Job description

Description: 

The Transportation Aide will perform a variety of functions related to the special needs of children being transported to and from school. Assist drivers loading and unloading students. Supervise students in the vehicle for safe transportation purposes. Insures that proper  safety equipment is used and in place for student(s) use. Attend to any special needs that may occur on the vehicle including student behavior. Assist in the implementation of IEP related or relevant to transportation issues. Administer first aide and CPR to students(s) as needed. Provide teachers and administrators with relevant information on student progress through daily observation and contact. Attend to any special needs a student might need while in a vehicle. Assist physically handicapped students in toileting needs including stall positioning, lifting garments and cleansing. Attend District in-service sessions which are directly related to the job. Be able to understand and follow specific and/or special instructions for student(s).
Job Salary: $17.69 per hour

 


Qualifications: 

 

High school education or GED. Completion of special needs training courses offered through the district, if required. Must have the ability to maintain appropriate student behavior; perform appropriately in situations requiring tact and diplomacy; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. The ability to successfully meet physical requirements of the job. Must pass an approved pre-placement medical assessment.
