SUBprint, located in the heart of the University of Alberta campus within the Students' Union Building, is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our vibrant team!

From academic posters and class projects to banners, event signage, course materials, and large-format projects, we produce a wide variety of printed materials for students, faculty, staff, campus groups, and the wider community. Position Overview:

As a SUBprintProduction Attendant 1, you will play a crucial role in our high-paced production environment. You will be responsible for assisting with various printing tasks, ensuring the efficient and timely completion of projects, and maintaining a positive, energetic atmosphere throughout the workplace. Your enthusiasm, adaptability, and ability to collaborate will be essential to our success as a team.The Production Attendant 1 facilitates the production of print jobs and associated sales transactions, provides customer service, and assists in the overall operations of the Students' Union's retail production environment.


This is part time position, offering flexible hours to fit your schedule.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in the creation of customer print requests, which would include printing a variety of file types, creating anything from class notes to business cards, pamphlets, and booklets to academic posters and banner stands, as well as digital scanning and binding.
  2. Facilitate sales, refunds and other customer transactions.
  3. Operate accurately, efficiently and with little supervision, a wide variety of printers and binding equipment.
  4. Provide excellent customer service, respond to customer queries, and otherwise assist customers as required.
  5. Assist in maintaining supplies and products by completing inventory counts, replenishment, receiving and other related tasks.
  6. Monitor the equipment and premises, and assist in maintaining their overall condition and presentation.
  7. Complete cash counts and other financial counts as required.
  8. Perform other job-related duties as required by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Alberta Grade 12, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite & MS Office, and willingness to learn printing and production software.
  • Ability to operate an electronic point-of-sale system and to perform accurate financial accounting of shift activities.
  • Strong customer service skills, and ability to communicate effectively with the staff, students and the general public.
  • An aptitude for technical problem determination and resolution.
  • Attention to detail and an ability to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • A strong work ethic, dependable punctuality and a commitment to high performance contribute to team reliability and overall productivity
  • Must be able to provide a satisfactory criminal records check.
  • Previous experience in the print industry, as well as experience in computer troubleshooting, would be assets.

SUBprint is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am -5:00 pm with staff scheduled for shifts ranging from 8:00 am - 5:15 pm.

The number of hours per week for this position varies based on availability, and SUBprint offers flexible scheduling to accommodate class schedules whenever possible.
