Job Title
Residence Hall Receptionist - Perkinston Campus
Job Description
The Receptionist will report directly to the Area Coordinator to which he/she is assigned. The Residence Hall Receptionist position typically works an overnight shift.
Job Duties
1. Supervise residents' behavior within the building. Monitor residents and visitors that enter and exit the building.
2. Monitor the residents in the lobby. Document students who are disruptive or excessively loud.
3. Know and understand college policies, procedures, and forms as they pertain to residence halls. Interpret these to students as needed.
4. Assist with check-in and check-out of residents.
5. Conduct walk-through of the building on a regular basis.
6. Assist the Area Coordinator with maintaining an accurate key inventory.
7. Report needed maintenance and repairs promptly. Report unsatisfactory custodial or maintenance issues to the Area Coordinator.
8. Maintain an orderly work area; front desk and office should be kept clean.
9. Ensure hall safety and security; secure the building properly; know and help inform students of fire safety procedures and emergency evacuation procedures.
10. Assist with maintaining complete and accurate information of residents, including rosters, RCR's, emergency cards, etc.
11. Ensure that the general area within the hall and surrounding the hall is kept in an orderly fashion (trash, etc.). Report problems or issues to hall custodian or maintenance.
12. Ensure that the lobby is kept in an orderly fashion, report problems or issues to custodian or maintenance.
13. Report problems with vending machines, washers/dryers located in your building.
14. Recognize and respond to the special needs of persons with difference in culture, lifestyle or physical abilities.
15. Convey through both example and statement, an impartial attitude toward all persons regardless of race, culture, or lifestyle.
16. Be familiar with resources and services offered on campus and use them to assist residents.
17. Document student conflicts; contact the Resident Assistant, Residence Hall Advisor, Area Coordinator and/or Campus Police when necessary.
18. Report incidents using incident reports in accordance with the conduct process. Keep issues confidential.
19. Perform other duties as assigned by the Area Coordinator and/or Director of Residence and Student Life.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) High School Diploma or Equivalent.
(M2) Work experience in a professional setting.
(M3) Must be able to stand/sit for long periods of time.
(M4) Must be able to perform rounds of buildings by climbing stairs (up to three floors) where elevators may not be present.
(M5) Be able to lift at least 30 pounds as needed.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Associate's Degree in related field.
(D2) Skilled in the operation of personal computers and Microsoft Office (internet and email).
(D3) Excellent organizational and communication skills.
(D4) Customer service experience.
