THE POSITION

Join the Bureau of Elections as an Administrative Assistant 1 and help support the smooth operation of statewide election activities. With us, you will provide administrative and technical assistance to help ensure efficient processing of tasks related to the Pennsylvania Election Code and other federal and state election law. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this Administrative Assistant 1 position you will play key role in supporting the Bureau of Elections by assisting with administrative and technical tasks that help maintain accurate election processes. Bring your clear communication skills, motivation, and attention to detail to a role that truly supports the people of Pennsylvania. Your duties will include the following:


  • Public Assistance: Respond to routine inquiries, research complaints, and address concerns about election matters that are brought to the Bureau via email, phone, and in person
  • Data Management: Enter and track information for required state and federal reports; compile and prepare reports
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and review commission certificates, forms, lists and related materials; conduct nomination petition and nomination paper filing; help prepare training materials
  • Information Review: Examine election related publications and recommend revisions to support effective and accurate communication
  • Technical Guidance: Work with county officials to support reporting and election administration

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week, after successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
