Job description

Why Join GEICO?

At GEICO, we offer a rewarding career where your ambitions are met with endless possibilities.

Every day we honor our iconic brand by offering quality coverage to millions of customers and being there when they need us most. We thrive on relentless innovation to exceed our customers' expectations while making a real impact on local communities nationwide.

Founded in 1936, GEICO is a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies and one of the largest auto insurers in the United States. When you join our company, we want you to feel valued, supported, and proud to work here. That's why we offer the GEICO Pledge: Great Company, Great Culture, Great Rewards, and Great Careers.

GEICO is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer in AI Security Architecture to design and build the next generation of intelligent cybersecurity automation. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who thinks in systems, codes with discipline, and sees AI as an engineering surface - not a shortcut. You'll operate at the intersection of security architecture, agentic AI development, and developer enablement, helping engineering teams across the enterprise build securely and ship confidently.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain agentic AI systems - including React loops, tool orchestration, and RAG pipelines - in production-grade Python

  • Author and refine complex, domain-rich prompts that encode security architecture knowledge into reliable, repeatable LLM-powered workflows

  • Conduct AI-assisted architecture and secure design reviews across enterprise systems, identifying weaknesses early and guiding teams toward paved-road solutions

  • Partner with engineering teams as a hands-on security architecture advisor - reviewing designs, accelerating production readiness, and raising the bar on secure-by-default thinking

  • Build and maintain integrations with enterprise platforms including Azure AD, Azure DevOps, Slack, and internal APIs, with a strong command of the auth and governance landscape that comes with them

  • Write infrastructure-as-code and automation tooling using Terraform and/or Ansible to operationalize security controls at scale

  • Apply your knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and orchestration both as surfaces to secure and as tools to build with

What You Bring

  • Strong security architecture background - you can identify automation opportunities before they're on anyone's roadmap, design novel solutions, and guide teams toward secure, scalable patterns

  • Hands-on experience building fully agentic AI systems; chatbot wrappers don't count

  • Demonstrated ability to write long, complex, domain-rich prompts for production LLM workflows

  • Production-grade Python skills and the discipline to keep a codebase clean as it scales

  • Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts and how they intersect with security risk and assisted coding workflows

  • Experience with Terraform and/or Ansible for infrastructure automation

  • Broad hands-on experience with CI/CD, networking, containerization, and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) - both as things you secure and as tools you build with

  • Fluency writing API-driven automations and integrating with enterprise platforms

Experience

  • 8+ years in software engineering, security engineering, or a hybrid architecture role

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure preferred)

  • Demonstrated experience shipping production AI/ML systems or security automation tooling

  • Experience with identity and access patterns, OAuth/OIDC, and enterprise auth integrations

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience
