Job description
Summary
Independently audits, validates, and posts completed surgical cases to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely charge capture. Applies expert clinical knowledge to review operative documentation, implants, supplies, instruments, and procedures completed during surgical and procedural cases. Responsible for optimizing perioperative revenue integrity while ensuring compliance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrates critical thinking to identify discrepancies, resolve errors, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams while maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
Education
Requires an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Valid Registered Nurse License required for the State where services will be provided.
Experience
3–5 years of perioperative or procedural nursing experience required. Must demonstrate expert experience in surgical case documentation (implants, instrumentation, clinical supplies and surgical procedures), perioperative workflows, and strong working knowledge of surgical documentation standards. Experience with electronic health records (EHR), Microsoft Office products and clinical databases preferred. Charge capture, auditing, or revenue integrity experience preferred.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Good verbal and written communication skills. Excellent communication skills with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders. Must demonstrate the ability to perform duties at an expert level while maintaining integrity, consistency, and independent performance. Ablility to manage time effectively and perform duties requiring detailed analysis of the time-based process with the surgical service line.
