World Youth Foundation Program Development Teleservice VISTA
World Youth Foundation (WYF) is a Houston-based nonprofit committed to empowering all youth on how to win in life against all odds by cultivating the whole individual-mind, body, and character. Since 1990, WYF has served youth and families across Greater Houston and beyond through holistic, wraparound services designed to move participants from crisis to stability and into long-term self-sufficiency. WYF intentionally addresses educational attainment, workforce readiness, mental health awareness, and character development while engaging families and community partners as essential sources of support and enrichment. By focusing on the whole person, WYF equips participants with the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to navigate systemic barriers and thrive in school, work, and life. WYF serves under-resourced youth ages 14-24 and their families across Houston and Harris County. The youth served by WYF are primarily young adults from low-income households, many of whom face compounded challenges such as under-resourced schools, exposure to community violence, housing instability, and limited access to mental health supports. A significant portion are first-generation college aspirants, opportunity youth disconnected from school or work, or young people at risk of justice-system involvement. Families often include single-parent households or multigenerational caregivers managing financial insecurity while striving to support their children's educational and career goals.
Member Duties : The Capacity Building AmeriCorps VISTA member in this position will serve to World Youth Foundation (WYF) increase capacity and sustainability of several initiatives: Workforce Development & Financial Literacy, Education & Mentorship, and Food Security & Family Stabilization. The member will support WYF by strengthening systems, expanding partnerships, enhancing data and evaluation practices, and increasing access to resources that sustain and scale impact. Long-term sustainability will be built by developing institutional capacity at WYF, cross-training, and organizational fundraising to diversify funding streams. The VISTA member will serve on average 3 days a week in-person, and 2 days a week virtually.
