Job description

A vital member of our marketing team, the Senior Web Content Strategist leads the development of impactful content and crafts key messages that align with the university's brand message and strategic goals for the main university website, Creighton.edu. Working across Marketing & Communications and university partners, this role plans and develops content that supports the customer journey and conveys the university's brand in our most valuable marketing channel.

This role requires someone with a vision for content: Someone who can see how content can drive growth for the university and has expertise in today's evolving digital landscape and the role of web content. The Senior Web Content Strategist develops audience personas, customer journey maps, content distribution plans and multimedia content, with a focus on the website, for Creighton University in support of the university's strategic initiatives. The Senior Content Strategist is adept at using data to identify insights on how content is performing and builds data-driven content strategies.

The Senior Web Content Strategist takes a pivotal role in shaping the university's brand narrative, creating content plans that deliver compelling stories that make an impact to audiences. Additionally, the Senior Web Content Strategist understands how the university's website fits within the broader marketing and content ecosystem and develops and implements strategies that support multi-channel content. 

The Senior Web Content Strategist will:

  • Help drive a cohesive content strategy for Creighton.edu by planning, creating and reviewing impactful content for the university website.
  • Implement content strategy to support personas and user journeys for Creighton.edu.
  • Work with Director of Web Strategy to manage taxonomy, content structure and tagging systems.
  • Develop content strategy implementation plans for UX and IA updates.
  • Manage relationships with campus stakeholders for web content projects.
  • Have extensive knowledge of GEO/AIO, SEO, UX, accessibility and design.
  • Review performance metrics for Creighton.edu and make recommendations to revise strategy as needed.
  • Ensure the university website has a common voice and conveys the distinctive characteristics of Creighton University.
  • Bring a relentless sense of curiosity to test and iterate new messages on new platforms to reach the university's target audiences.
  • Have excellent attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of our content and standards of the university.
  • Learn the complexities of Creighton's schools, colleges and divisions and clearly articulate the value of a Creighton education including the particulars of programs, degrees and services available to students.
  • Harness the university's established brand voice and utilize tone appropriate for a variety of content forms and channels.
  • Work within established processes to ensure consistent content workflow within the team and proactively contribute to optimizing processes.

Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field is required. 
    5-7 years of progressive marketing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Proven ability and experience in building brands through digital content and content marketing.
    Demonstrated success delivering content programs in different digital environments, such as content management systems, email marketing and multi-channel marketing and communications. 
    Understanding of the overall digital media landscape.
    Experience managing multiple, often fast-paced projects simultaneously.
