What is a Channel Advisor?

A Channel Advisor is a professional who helps businesses manage, optimize, and grow their sales across various online marketplaces and sales channels, such as Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and others. They work to ensure that product listings are optimized, pricing strategies are competitive, and inventory is managed efficiently. Channel Advisors also analyze sales data, coordinate with marketing teams, and provide strategies to increase reach and revenue. Their expertise helps companies navigate the complexities of multichannel e-commerce and maximize their online presence.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Channel Advisor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Channel Advisor, you need expertise in channel sales strategies, partner relationship management, and a strong understanding of market dynamics, typically supported by a degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms like Salesforce, partner management tools, and certifications in sales or channel management are often required. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills help build and maintain strong partnerships. These skills are crucial for optimizing channel performance, driving revenue growth, and ensuring successful collaboration between organizations and their partners.

What are some common challenges Channel Advisors face when managing multiple partner relationships?

Channel Advisors often juggle relationships with various partners, each with different goals, communication styles, and expectations. Balancing these while ensuring alignment with company objectives can be challenging. Additionally, Channel Advisors may need to navigate conflicts of interest, maintain up-to-date knowledge of partner products, and adapt to evolving market dynamics. Successful Channel Advisors use strong organizational and interpersonal skills to build trust, resolve conflicts, and foster productive collaborations.

Job description

About AI Security at Cato Networks

Cato's AI Security capabilities extend the Cato SASE platform into the AI and SaaS layers, enabling enterprises to securely adopt and govern AI-powered applications and services. AI Security provides real-time visibility, control, and protection across AI-enabled SaaS platforms by addressing modern threats such as identity abuse, data leakage, misconfigurations, insider risk, and unauthorized AI usage.

By integrating AI Security natively into the Cato SASE Cloud, Cato delivers a unified platform that protects users, networks, SaaS applications, and AI services from a single, globally distributed security architecture.

 Role Overview

We are looking for a Channel Sales Engineer to serve as a technical resource for Cato Networks' Channel organization, acting as an overlay specialist focused on AI Security.

In this role, you will manage the technical evaluation process with channel partners, working with the Cato Channel team as the primary technical contact and product advocate for Cato's AI Security solutions.

The evaluation process includes technical discussions, product demonstrations, Proof of Concept execution, and partner education. You will engage with technical and business stakeholders and play a key role across the partner lifecycle.

 Responsibilities
  • Validate Cato's AI Security solutions for prospects and partners.

  • Develop and deliver product demonstrations and technical presentations.

  • Present solutions to customers and at field events such as conferences and seminars.

  • Address functional and technical elements of RFIs and RFPs.

  • Serve as a technical advisor to channel partners during evaluations and deployments.

  • Communicate feedback, feature requests, and technical insights to Product Management.

  • Stay current on AI security trends, emerging technologies, and market alternatives.

  • Travel throughout assigned sales territory as required.

 Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or technical pre-sales professional.

  • Experience selling or assisting with Cybersecurity SaaS solutions, preferably in enterprise or partner-based environments.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Technical background with experience in several of the following areas:

    • SaaS platforms and APIs

    • AI / Machine Learning concepts and risks

    • REST APIs and integrations

    • SSO, IAM, and identity-based security

    • SIEM and security insights

    • Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

    • Kubernetes and modern cloud architectures

  • Presentation and written communication skills.

  • Organized, thoughtful, and adaptable problem-solver.

  • Startup experience preferred; comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with limited formal processes.

A reasonable estimate of the OTE for this role, at the time of posting, is $240,000-$260,000.
Cato provides the pay range for open roles to help align with candidate needs. Exact compensation may vary based on skill set, experience, location, training, and certifications.

Cato provides a market-aligned salary and comprehensive benefits plan. Benefits for this role include health, vision, and dental insurance; 401(k); stock options; Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts; flexible time off; paid parental leave; and disability benefits.

As an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer, all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
