JOB DESCRIPTION
Fox News EDGE serves local newsrooms across the country, providing content that is a cornerstone of local newscasts on FOX television stations. We seek a top-notch Writer who is energized by working on a broad portfolio of stories from politics and breaking news to entertainment. This Writer will work as part of a team responsible for dozens of daily news stories.
You will be offered one of the following shifts:
Monday - Friday 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. (First shift begins 9:30 p.m. Monday evening and last shift ends at 6:30 a.m. Saturday)
Saturday - Wednesday 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. (First shift begins 9:30 p.m. Saturday evening and last shift ends at 6:30 a.m. Thursday)
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Take ownership of your stories on the Fox News EDGE overnight block, a rundown of stories local Fox affiliates across the nation rely upon to fill their local morning newscasts
  • Work with a team of writers and producers by pitching, researching, and writing stories that will be seen coast-to-coast
  • Become an expert on your topics and write clear, concise scripts that tell compelling stories
  • Write VOs and VOSOTs and can be trained to occasionally write and produce packages as needed

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Solid news judgment and grasp of journalism best practices
  • Prior newsroom experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent writing skills, spelling, and grammar
  • Ability to work well with others under strict deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of current events
  • Willingness to work overnight hours

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $60,000.00-70,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
