JOB DESCRIPTION:

Take 5 Oil Change Assistant Shop Manager

At Take 5 Oil Change, leadership happens right on the shop floor. We’re looking for an Assistant Shop Manager who is career-minded, enjoys working with people, takes pride in doing things the right way, and is ready to help lead a fast-paced team.

In this role, you’ll support the Shop Manager with daily operations, team development, and fast, friendly customer experience. You’ll step in as Manager on Duty when needed, helping the team stay focused while keeping the shop safe, efficient, and running smoothly. We provide paid, hands-on training to teach the technical skills and service standards needed to succeed the Take 5 way. Automotive experience is valued, but not required!

The Nuts and Bolts of the Role:

  • Complete our Certified Technician training.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when needed by coordinating workflow and helping the team deliver safe, efficient, high-quality service.
  • Model fast, friendly customer service, respond to customer needs, and resolve concerns professionally.
  • Ensure services are completed accurately and consistently while reinforcing company procedures, safety requirements, and service standards.
  • Support shop performance by identifying opportunities for improvement and taking on additional leadership responsibilities when the Shop Manager is unavailable.
  • Train new team members, provide real-time coaching and feedback, reinforce expectations, and recognize strong performance.
  • Perform all Certified Technician and Lead Technician responsibilities.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist with daily inventory counts and adjustments.
  • Support shop communication, reporting, and operational follow-up.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 6 months’ customer service experience in a fast-paced service environment delivering consistent and exceptional customer service experience for every customer.
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience leading, coaching, or mentoring others in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to following and maintaining facility and safety control policies and practices.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort providing direction, coaching, and feedback to team members.
  • Initiative, accountability, and follow-through on responsibilities.
  • The ability to remain calm, organized, and solutions-focused during busy periods.
  • The ability to meet applicable age and certification requirements, including Inspector Certification when required.
  • Reliable transportation to and from your work location.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

This is an active, hands-on role in a fast-paced automotive service environment. All crew members must be able to:

  • Lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Maneuver safely in and out of a shallow 3-foot-deep pit to position yourself under vehicles.
  • Walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, hold, grasp, pull, and turn for extended periods of time.
  • Work in hot or cold weather conditions when necessary.
