Position Overview

The Membership Account Manager plays a critical role within the largest team at The Greater San Antonio Chamber—the membership department. This position is responsible for implementing strategic membership development initiatives, managing comprehensive member relationships, and driving sustainable growth through both high-touch and low-touch member acquisition and retention strategies.

As a Membership Account Manager, you will be joining a dynamic team dedicated to expanding our influence and impact across the San Antonio business community. This role requires a results-driven professional who thrives in a goal-oriented environment and possesses the self-discipline to achieve ambitious targets while building lasting relationships with current and prospective members.

Key Responsibilities

Member Acquisition & Development

  • High-Touch Relationship Building: Develop and execute personalized outreach strategies for high-value prospects, including face-to-face meetings, customized presentations, and tailored membership packages
  • Low-Touch Efficiency: Implement scalable digital and phone-based outreach campaigns to maximize reach across diverse prospect segments
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain active prospecting activities, qualifying leads, and moving prospects through the membership sales process
  • Market Analysis: Identify and target businesses across all sectors and sizes, from emerging startups to established enterprises

Member Retention & Engagement

  • Two-Year Active Engagement: Maintain consistent, meaningful contact with new members for a full two years post-enrollment to ensure reciprocated involvement and value realization
  • Relationship Stewardship: Conduct regular and personalized check-ins, provide ongoing support, and identify additional ways to enhance member experience
  • Renewal Workflow Execution: Follow established retention workflows to assist in membership renewal processes, ensuring high retention rates
  • Value Communication: Clearly articulate ongoing Chamber benefits and connect members with relevant programs, events, and networking opportunities

Goal Achievement & Performance Management

  • Target-Driven Results: Set and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual membership goals for both new acquisitions and retention
  • Self-Directed Excellence: Demonstrate exceptional self-discipline in time management, activity tracking, and consistent follow-through on commitments
  • Performance Metrics: Track and report on key performance indicators including conversion rates, retention percentages, and member satisfaction scores
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and refine approaches based on results and member feedback

CRM Management & Communication Excellence

  • Database Integrity: Maintain detailed, accurate records in the Chamber's CRM system, ensuring all member and prospect interactions are properly documented
  • Communication Tracking: Log all touchpoints, follow-ups, and outcomes to maintain comprehensive account histories
  • Reporting: Generate regular reports on account activity, pipeline status, and performance metrics
  • Process Adherence: Follow established workflows and procedures to ensure consistency and quality in member communications

Team Collaboration & Chamber Engagement

  • Internal Partnership: Collaborate effectively with other departments including  to enhance member value
  • Committee Support: Assist with Chamber council activities as needed to deepen member engagement

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 2+ years of experience in sales, account management, membership development, or related field
  • Previous experience with membership organizations, chambers of commerce, or nonprofit associations strongly preferred
