To thrive in a Challenge Course role, you should have strong leadership, safety awareness, facilitation skills, and familiarity with outdoor education or experiential learning. Certifications such as First Aid/CPR, Challenge Course Facilitator, or ACCT credentials, as well as proficiency with harnesses, belay systems, and related safety equipment, are often required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and adaptability help build trust and encourage participants to overcome obstacles. These competencies are critical to ensure participant safety, create positive experiences, and effectively manage group dynamics during courses.
A typical day for a Challenge Course facilitator involves preparing the course, conducting safety checks, and guiding groups through team-building activities, both on the ground and at height. You’ll lead participants through physical and mental challenges, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and facilitate debrief sessions to encourage reflection and learning. Collaboration with other facilitators and staff is common, as is adapting activities to the needs and abilities of different groups. You may also assist with maintaining course equipment and help organize special programs or events. The dynamic nature of this role offers a blend of outdoor activity, group leadership, and personal growth opportunities.
A Challenge Course job involves facilitating team-building and adventure activities on high and low ropes courses. Employees ensure participant safety, guide group exercises, and encourage personal and team development. Responsibilities may include equipment setup, risk management, and leading debrief discussions. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

Do you have your Lifeguard Certification? Easterseals Florida is seeking energetic, motivated and creative individual to fill our summer camp Activities Assistant/Lifeguard position for our 2025 summer camp season at Camp Challenge in Sorrento, Florida. Easterseals Florida Camp Challenge provides children and adults with disabilities and special needs a summer getaway filled with laughter, friendship and fun. Our lifeguards are a big part of making that happen.
The lifeguard organizes activities in and around the pool. The lifeguard will work closely with other staff to schedule and oversee these activities and ensure that campers have a safe and positive experience. The lifeguard will also assist campers in other recreational activities such as sports, archery, the challenge course, arts and crafts, swimming, talent night, and making s'mores at campfires. Additionally, the lifeguard will assist with the personal care needs of our campers. A full week of training will be provided.
