Job description

Bucket Truck Operator

A Bucket Truck Operator is responsible for assisting with the clearing and removal of trees along electrical power lines and right-of-ways. This position operates an aerial lift device (bucket truck) to reach branches interfering with electric lines. While completing assigned duties, you will also operate chain saws, pruners, brush chippers, and may be called upon to climb trees using climbing equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities Include Essential Duties:

  • Follows safe practices and rules while clearing and trimming trees and brush away from utility lines
  • Sprays brush and stumps, making proper and selective application of herbicides
  • Operates and services equipment and tools such as hydraulic tools, power tools, buckets, chippers, and sprayers
  • Performs tree and bucket rescue
  • Trains new personnel
  • Duties and responsibilities may change with or without notice

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • Semi-skilled in mechanics
  • Proficient in proper tree groundwork, including but not limited to basic tree pruning and tree removal
  • Must be able to complete a proficiency test consisting of climbing, knot tying, and chainsaw maintenance
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the safe handling and operation of chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record per Company requirements
  • Knowledge of essential job functions and responsibilities
