Be our next Senior Highway Engineer / Highway Group Leader (Central Florida). This is an opportunity to lead and grow our Central Florida highway group and play a key role in winning and delivering work with FDOT and the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX). This is a leadership role for a proven roadway professional who combines strong technical delivery, client relationships, and business development.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Lead roadway/highway analysis and design, including plan production, specifications, reports, estimates, and quantity development for FDOT and CFX projects.
  • Manage and coordinate multi-discipline teams (drainage, traffic/ITS, structures, utilities, survey, permitting) and subconsultants.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and deliverables to meet project commitments.
  • Provide quality control oversight to ensure compliance with FDOT/CFX standards and internal QA/QC procedures.
  • Support and/or lead marketing, capture planning, proposal strategy, and presentations for FDOT and CFX pursuits.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and designers; support recruiting and team growth in Central Florida.

What your experience looks like

  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Minimum 15 years of roadway/highway engineering experience is required.
  • Direct FDOT and CFX experience is required (project delivery and client coordination).
  • Experience managing conventional and design-build projects involving intersections, arterials, interstates, and interchanges.
  • Working knowledge of Bentley/MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to lead multi-discipline coordination and deliverable management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established FDOT and CFX relationships and a track record supporting project pursuits and capture.
  • Experience as Engineer of Record and/or lead reviewer on limited access highways, tolled expressways, and complex interchange designs.
  • Experience with FDOT District-wide, on-call, or continuing services contracts.
  • Demonstrated success leading a team and helping grow a practice in a competitive market.
