Job description

Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician. LPN supports patient care activities, administers medications, monitors patient conditions, and assists with treatment plans while ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role promotes a safe, therapeutic, and patient-centered care environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver basic nursing care to patients in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment
  • Administer medications, injections, and treatments as ordered within scope of practice
  • Assist RNs or physicians with patient assessments and care planning
  • Collect specimens and perform basic diagnostic tests
  • Provide wound care, dressing changes, and implement infection control measures
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR/EMR)
  • Educate patients on medications, treatments, and self-care strategies
  • Observe and promptly report changes in patient condition to supervising staff
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic care environment
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
  • Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable state and federal regulations

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing Program
  • Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to follow clinical protocols, physician orders, and regulatory standards
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in acute care, long-term care, behavioral health, or correctional healthcare
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems (EMR/EHR)
  • IV certification (if applicable and permitted by state regulations)
