What engineers make $500,000?

Senior engineers in specialized fields such as software, petroleum, or aerospace engineering can earn $500,000 or more annually, often with extensive experience, advanced skills, and additional compensation like bonuses or stock options. High-level managerial or executive engineering roles may also reach this compensation level, especially in large corporations or high-demand industries.

How much does a CFD make?

A CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) engineer or specialist typically earns between $60,000 and $120,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and industry. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced professionals with advanced skills in simulation software and programming can earn higher salaries.

Is CFD a good career?

A career as a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) engineer involves using simulation software to analyze fluid flow and heat transfer, often requiring skills in programming, physics, and engineering. It offers opportunities in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and energy, with demand for professionals skilled in tools like ANSYS, OpenFOAM, and STAR-CCM+.

Will AI replace CFD engineers?

CFD engineers use specialized software to analyze fluid dynamics problems, and AI can assist in automating certain tasks like data analysis and model optimization. However, the expertise, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills of CFD engineers are essential for interpreting results and developing complex simulations, making complete replacement unlikely in the near future.

Job description

Job Description
As a Battery Thermal 3D CFD Virtual Propulsion Engineer (VPE), you will perform cell, module and pack level Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to optimize thermal performance of GM's Battery Systems under normal and abuse conditions (TRP). The candidate will conceptualize and develop a wide variety of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models to directly impact design and offset hardware testing. This role requires close collaboration with other CAE teams, while providing results and technical consultation to hardware design, development and validation engineers. Development of new and refinement of existing simulation procedures in the above domains is also a core responsibility.
Job Description
Hybrid work position: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.
This position requires an employee to be onsite every other week.
As a Battery Thermal 3D CFD Analysis Engineer, you will perform cell, module and pack level Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to optimize thermal performance of GM's Battery Systems under normal and abuse conditions including TRP. The candidate will conceptualize and develop a wide variety of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models to directly impact design and offset hardware testing. This role requires close collaboration with other VDDV (CAE) teams, while providing results and technical consultation to hardware design, development and validation engineers. Development of new and refinement of existing simulation procedures in the above domains is also a core responsibility.
