How much do cfd trader jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 30, 2026, the average yearly pay for cfd trader in the United States is $96,774.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $56,500.00 and $105,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Is 30 too old to become a trader?

Cfd traders can start at any age, including 30, as success depends on skills, market knowledge, and experience rather than age. Many traders begin later in life and develop their expertise through education, practice, and understanding of trading platforms. Age is generally not a barrier to entering trading careers if the individual is committed and willing to learn.

What does a typical day look like for a CFD Trader?

A typical day for a CFD Trader involves monitoring global financial markets, analyzing price movements, executing trades, and managing open positions according to risk parameters. You’ll spend much of your time using trading platforms to track relevant instruments, researching economic news, and collaborating with analysts or team members to share market insights. The pace can be fast and requires continuous attention to market events, with frequent decision-making under pressure. While some traders work independently, many are part of larger trading teams or financial institutions, offering both support and opportunities for professional growth. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy dynamic, results-driven work environments.

What is a CFD trader?

A CFD trader is a financial professional who buys and sells Contracts for Difference (CFDs), which are derivatives that allow trading on the price movements of assets like stocks, commodities, or currencies without owning the underlying assets. They analyze market data, use trading platforms, and often require knowledge of technical and fundamental analysis to make trading decisions.

How much do CFD traders earn?

CFD traders' earnings vary widely based on experience, trading skills, and capital, with some earning from a few thousand dollars annually to six-figure incomes for successful traders. Many traders also face significant risks and potential losses, making consistent profitability challenging. Success often depends on knowledge of markets, risk management, and the use of trading platforms and analysis tools.

What is a CFD Trader job?

A CFD (Contract for Difference) Trader buys and sells financial instruments like stocks, commodities, and currencies using leveraged contracts rather than owning the underlying assets. They analyze market trends, execute trades, and manage risk to generate profits from price movements. CFD trading allows for both long and short positions, meaning traders can profit in rising or falling markets. Successful CFD traders rely on technical analysis, market research, and risk management strategies to optimize their trades.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Cfd Trader position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CFD Trader, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial markets, and typically a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Proficiency with trading platforms such as MetaTrader, Bloomberg Terminal, or proprietary brokerage systems, as well as relevant certifications like CFA or FCA registration, is often expected. Excellent decision-making, stress management, and communication abilities are valuable soft skills in this fast-paced environment. These skills are crucial for timely and informed trading decisions, effective risk management, and successful collaboration in the dynamic world of CFD trading.

Can you make a living from CFD trading?

CFD traders can potentially make a living from trading if they develop strong trading strategies, risk management skills, and consistent profitability. However, CFD trading involves significant risk and is not guaranteed income; many traders experience losses, and success depends on experience, discipline, and market conditions.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Aerodynamics/CFD Engineer for our Boulder, Colorado location. This role can be remote with travel.

Responsibilities

  • Design, loft and optimize components that affect the aircraft aerodynamics and outer mold line (OML).
  • Build models, clean CAD geometry, and generate computational meshes to run CFD simulations that:
  • Inform aircraft trade studies and configuration design decisions using appropriately fidelity levels.
  • Support aerodynamic design across all phases, from concept development through certification.
  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity aerodynamic databases for performance prediction, external-loads analysis, and real-time six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulations.
  • Correlate and validate CFD results against simulations of varying fidelity (e.g. cross-code comparisons, wind-tunnel testing, and flight-test data). Iterate models as new data becomes available.
  • Post-process and analyze simulation and test data. Summarize results in reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (performance, acoustics, loads, stability and control, control laws, systems, and instrumentation) to define simulation parameters and requirements, ensure model accuracy, and provide CFD expertise to guide design decisions.
  • Develop and improve the software methods, tools, and workflows that support aerodynamic modeling.
  • Support verification and validation activities that rely on model outputs (e.g., failure hazard assessments (FHAs)).
  • Train and mentor junior aerodynamics engineers.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in aeronautical engineering or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience with a B.S., 10+ years with an M.S., or 8+ years with a Ph.D. modeling subsonic, fixed-wing aerodynamics using CFD and validating results with wind-tunnel experiments
  • Expert-level knowledge of subsonic, fixed-wing aerodynamics; strong theoretical background in fluid mechanics and CFD
  • Experience with surface parameterization and aerodynamic shape optimization
  • Experience in turbulence modeling, boundary-layer transition, unsteady aerodynamics, and interference aerodynamics
  • Strong competence running NASA OVERFLOW and/or FUN3D CFD software (RANS flow solvers)
  • Proficiency in 3D surface and volume meshing using structured overset meshes and/or unstructured tetrahedral/hexahedral meshes
  • Proficiency in lofting aircraft in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX) and applying CAD cleanup tools
  • Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB scripting
  • Experience working with external partners and suppliers on development projects
  • Familiarity with software development best practices and version control (Git)
  • Good knowledge of high-performance computing (HPC) hardware and software
  • Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well both collaboratively and independently
  • Experience in a fast-paced design environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerodynamics design experience on a large transport/freighter/cargo category aircraft
  • Familiarity with aircraft certification standards (14 CFR Part 25 or Part 23), preferably having been through an airplane development and certification program
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms
  • Experience planning and executing wind-tunnel test campaigns to validate CFD and aerodynamic predictions
