Job description

This is an opportunity in the Thermal Hardware Product Design team to develop fans for Apple Products. You would be working in a cross-functional environment to develop modules for the next generation of portable and desktop computers. We apply a genuine sense of curiosity and dedication to delivering truly innovative products that enrich people’s lives.
Description
In this role, you will be responsible for developing every aspect of Apple’s cooling fan designs - aerodynamic design, detailing system integration features, synthesizing thermal design targets, industrial design goals, manufacturability and reliability. You will use your skills to develop and analyze candidate aerodynamic fan designs using CFD software as well as to help bring these designs into existence through implementation in engineering builds and execution in mass production.
Your ability to communicate design concepts / results with management will get noticed. We assist in defining and reviewing meaningful tests for thermal module design qualification. You will work with top tier fan and thermal module vendors to validate and solve thermal design problems. Sometimes this could involve occasional travel to Asia for factory builds or in-person problem solving. Ability to review and interpret prototype test data would also be expected in order to accurately validate design concepts.","responsibilities":"Responsible for overall design of cooling fans
Aerodynamic design analysis using STAR-CCM+ CFD software
Work with Thermal Design and Noise & Vibration teams to meet air flow and acoustic requirements
Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate fan modules into system while balancing competing requirements, including aesthetics, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and environmental impact
Create 3D models and 2D drawings to capture detailed design intent and establish specifications
Detailed mechanical design of modules and relevant DFM
Plan, coordinate, analyze, and summarize results of experiments to validate design concepts
Identify root cause and corrective actions to address performance, quality, and reliability failures
Working with module vendors and tooling engineers to ensure that implementation is in line with design intent
Preferred Qualifications
MSME degree
Prior experience in design for high volume consumer products
Excellent communication skills: written, visual, and verbal. Ability to articulate clearly and concisely to a multi-disciplinary team
DC brushless motor design experience
AI/ML design tool experience
Experience with prototype design
Minimum Qualifications
BSME Degree
Experience in Engineering Analysis of aerodynamic designs using CFD software
Typically requires 5+ years of mechanical part design experience in any of the following: injection molding, stamping, forging, die casting, CNC, etc.
Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment with self-motivation to identify and drive resolution on design issues across multiple projects
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills using systematic and structured approaches
Track record of work in mechanical or hardware related fields: design, manufacturing, operations, reliability, etc.
Ability to synthesize, analyze, derive insights from, and clearly summarize complex data
Experience using 2D and 3D drafting and modeling software
2D mechanical drawing layout experience, familiarity with GD&T or SPC or Cp/Cpk
Experience with NX or Solid Works or Creo or ProE, etc.
