CFA hiring positions refer to job opportunities that require or prefer candidates who have earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. These roles are typically found in investment management, equity research, portfolio management, and financial analysis. Many employers seek CFA charterholders for their expertise in financial analysis, ethical standards, and demonstrated commitment to the finance profession. Common CFA hiring positions include financial analyst, portfolio manager, research analyst, and risk manager. Obtaining the CFA credential can significantly improve your chances of being hired for these competitive roles.

What types of projects or responsibilities can a new CFA charterholder expect when joining an investment firm?

As a newly hired CFA charterholder at an investment firm, you can expect to be involved in tasks such as conducting in-depth financial analysis, building and maintaining financial models, and supporting portfolio managers with investment research. You may also participate in client meetings, contribute to investment strategy discussions, and prepare reports or presentations for both internal teams and clients. The role often requires collaboration with other analysts, portfolio managers, and compliance professionals, providing exposure to various areas of the firm and opportunities for professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CFA, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CFA, you need deep knowledge of investment analysis, portfolio management, and financial reporting, typically supported by passing all three levels of the CFA exam and meeting professional experience requirements. Familiarity with financial modeling software, Bloomberg Terminal, and advanced Excel functions is crucial. Strong analytical thinking, ethical judgment, and effective communication set top candidates apart. These skills ensure sound investment decisions, regulatory compliance, and clear client interactions in the competitive finance industry.

What kind of jobs can you get with a CFA?

A CFA charterholder can pursue roles such as financial analyst, portfolio manager, research analyst, risk manager, or investment banker. These positions typically require strong analytical skills, knowledge of financial modeling, and proficiency with tools like Excel and Bloomberg terminals.

Job description

Location: New York, NY (hybrid).
Do you enjoy building trusted relationships with senior investment-industry leaders and turning those relationships into high-quality, unique engagement opportunities? Can you combine event programming, content judgement and client relationship management with the precision required for senior executive-level audiences? Are you looking for a newly created role where initiative, judgement and external credibility will matter every day? Are you someone able to help craft that role as it evolves to fit the changing needs of the organisation?
CFA Institute is hiring a Manager, Industry Engagement & Platforms to help execute senior-level industry engagement platforms and relationship-led programmes across our global investment community. Reporting to the Senior Director, Industry Engagement & Platforms, you will help turn strategic relationship frameworks into well-run, high-value engagement experiences for firms, CFA Societies, speakers, sponsors and senior industry participants.
In this role, you will help deliver peer-to-peer professional engagement models and CFA Society-enabled partnerships, supporting content strategy, agenda development, speaker engagement and cross-functional delivery for senior leadership cohorts across asset management and finance firms.
What You'll Do
  • Execute relationship-led engagement platforms involving senior practitioners, firms, sponsors, CFA Societies and internal partners.
  • Support peer-to-peer professional engagement models and CFA Society-enabled delivery partnerships that strengthen member value and institutional relationships.
  • Manage content research and agenda development for assigned engagement activity, from research and ideation through to agenda release and onsite execution.
  • Turn themes, trends and insights into reusable content that can support multiple divisions across CFA Institute.
  • Identify, evaluate, recruit and brief high-calibre speakers and senior contributors.
  • Act as a front-line relationship and delivery point for selected senior external and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery across internal stakeholders including Marketing, Community, Societies, the Research & Policy Center, sponsors, speaker management and event partners.
  • Help manage reputational, content and relationship risks before and during live events.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative feedback to improve programming, audience value and portfolio consistency.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years' experience in project or programme management, event programming, client relationship management, industry engagement, or a related professional services / events environment.
  • Direct experience managing senior stakeholder or client relationships where judgement, responsiveness and communication quality matter.
  • Demonstrable understanding of investment-industry themes and trends, ideally gained through financial services, investment events, professional education, research, publishing or member / community engagement.
  • Experience supporting event programming, content strategy, agenda development, speaker engagement, or programme delivery.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgement, know when to escalate and carry work forward without heavy direction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with credibility engaging senior-level internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfort influencing without formal authority in high-visibility environments and coordinating multiple complex initiatives at once.

Nice to have
  • Experience in investment-industry events, financial media / events, professional associations, member organisations, or CFA Society partnership environments.
  • Exposure to sponsorship, peer-to-peer community models, senior practitioner networks, or executive-level engagement programmes.
  • Familiarity with audience feedback, event performance metrics, content risk management or data-informed programme improvement.

Why Join Us
  • Join a newly created role in a newly formed team, with scope to shape how industry engagement is delivered.
  • Take on a broad generalist role offering growth across relationships, content, programming and platform delivery.
  • Work closely with senior investment-industry leaders and build a meaningful professional network.
  • Help connect CFA Institute more deeply with firms, societies and professional communities globally.
  • Be part of a mission-driven organisation focused on advancing the investment profession.
