What is a CESCP?

CESCP stands for Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional. CESCPs are individuals who have demonstrated knowledge and expertise in electrical safety standards and compliance, particularly with NFPA 70E, which is the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. They typically help organizations develop, implement, and maintain electrical safety programs to protect workers from electrical hazards. CESCPs may also conduct training, perform safety audits, and ensure compliance with regulations. Certification is offered by the NFPA and requires passing an exam and meeting experience requirements.

What are some common challenges faced by Certified Environmental Site Compliance Professionals (CESCPs) when collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on environmental projects?

CESCPs often work with professionals from engineering, legal, and regulatory backgrounds, which can lead to challenges in aligning goals and timelines. Effective communication is crucial, as team members may have different priorities or levels of understanding regarding environmental regulations and compliance standards. CESCPs must frequently translate complex environmental requirements into actionable steps for other team members while ensuring all parties remain compliant and up to date with evolving regulations. Building strong relationships and fostering open dialogue are key strategies for overcoming these challenges and ensuring project success.

Job description

Responsibilities

Brasfield & Gorrie is hiring an Energy Marshal to serve as the on-site authority for all hazardous energy control activities on our Mission Critical projects. This is a hybrid role at the intersection of construction safety and MEP operations — purpose-built for the complexity of hyperscale data center construction. Full-time, project-based, 100% on-site.

• Energy Control Plan: Lead and coordinate the site Energy Control Plan from pre-construction through commissioning and client turnover.

• LOTO Oversight: Serve as Authorizing Energy Marshal; lead and coordinate lockout/tagout activities across all trade partners and OFCI vendors, ensuring correct application, documentation, and removal of devices.

• Energization Coordination: Lead and coordinate review of energization plans, MOPs, and switching orders; facilitate system activations with MEP subcontractors, commissioning agents, and owner operations teams.

• Compliance & Auditing: Lead and coordinate field audits for NFPA 70E and OSHA compliance; verify arc flash hazard assessments and PPE requirements; maintain complete documentation packages for client review.

• Training & Communication: Coordinate site-specific electrical safety orientations; lead daily pre-task briefings; maintain real-time communication of energized systems and restricted spaces.

• Incident Management: Lead and coordinate investigations on any energy control near-miss or incident; drive corrective actions through resolution.
