Low Voltage Project Manager – Cedar Rapids, IA

Salary: $115,000–$165,000

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10-hour days, as required

Travel: Overnight travel may be required

Position Summary

We are seeking experienced Low Voltage Project Managers to oversee large-scale commercial and data center construction projects from pre-project planning through final closeout.

This role is responsible for managing project scope, schedules, budgets, subcontractors, vendors, customer relationships, quality, and field execution. The ideal candidate has a strong background in low voltage, structured cabling, telecommunications, and/or data center construction, with experience managing complex projects and multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Project

• Participate in the RFP process by reviewing plans, specifications, scopes, and bid documents.
• Review contracts and work orders for scope, validity, and changes.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Identify project requirements, risks, resources, and potential challenges before mobilization.

Project Startup & Mobilization

• Serve as the initial client interface to assess project scope, schedule, and resource requirements.
• Develop project mobilization and resource plans.
• Coordinate with Operations to ensure appropriate materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractors are available.
• Oversee acquisition and deployment of required equipment and resources.

Project Implementation

• Manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables to meet contractual requirements.
• Manage subcontractor and vendor performance to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate installation activities involving structured cabling, low voltage systems, rack infrastructure, and related telecommunications technologies.
• Work closely with engineering, site leadership, QA/QC, and field teams to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated and executed.
• Participate in customer progress meetings and provide regular project status updates.
• Identify and manage change events, change orders, and scope modifications.
• Track project costs, profitability, schedules, and overall performance.
• Monitor installation progress and address issues that could impact schedule, budget, quality, or customer satisfaction.
• Ensure contractual Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and project milestones are met.
• Represent the company in client meetings and project reviews.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.

Project Closeout

• Coordinate final project closeout activities.
• Ensure documentation and deliverables are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Manage customer acceptance and final project signoff.
• Assist with accounts receivable activities when needed.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

• Provide coaching, development, and guidance to project and field team members.
• Support the development and implementation of Lean processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency, quality, safety, and profitability.
• Support emerging technologies and evolving industry best practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in low voltage, structured cabling, telecommunications, data center construction, or related project management.
• Experience managing large-scale commercial and/or data center construction projects.
• Experience managing projects valued at $1M+ preferred.
• Experience with structured cabling, rack infrastructure, and standard low voltage technologies.
• Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Experience with GMP, lump sum, cost-plus, unit price, design-build/design-assist, and/or time-and-material contracts.
• Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, change management, and cost control.
• Experience with customer-facing project management and executive-level communication.
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to travel overnight as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP Certification
• BICSI RCDD Certification
• BICSI RTPM Certification
• OSHA 30 Certification
• Knowledge of BICSI standards and applicable building codes
• Experience with major structured cabling manufacturers such as Panduit, CommScope, Corning, or similar.
• Previous successful completion of large-scale telecommunications, low voltage, or data center projects.
• Experience managing Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contracts.
• Experience leading and developing field employees.
