JOB SUMMARY

The Direct Hire Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a clinical professional who provides patient care within CMA scope of practice while supporting structured onboarding and operational consistency for newly hired staff.ย 


This role performs administrative and clinical duties in a fast-paced clinic environment while reinforcing documentation standards, patient throughput, and regulatory compliance.ย 


RESPONSIBILITIES


Clinical Patient Care

  • Assist patients by providing information, support, and professional customer service
  • Verify patient identity, obtain medical histories, confirm visit purpose, allergies, medications, and vital signs
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, explain treatments, and ensure proper consents are completed
  • Assist physicians with office procedures, injections, wound care, suture/staple removal, and post-operative follow-up
  • Administer medications as directed by the provider and within CMA scope of practice


Training & Onboarding (Direct Hire Component)

  • Support structured onboarding of newly hired medical assistants
  • Reinforce clinic standards related to documentation, infection control, and workflow expectations
  • Assist leadership in validating competencies and ensuring adherence to clinic protocols
  • Promote accountability and teamwork within the medical assistant team


Clinical Workflow & Documentation

  • Document patient care, communications, injections, and education accurately in the EMR (TouchWorks)
  • Complete charge tickets and ensure documentation supports appropriate coding and secure record maintenance
  • Facilitate diagnostic testing and prescription refill processes per provider direction and clinic protocol
  • Manage administrative tasks including reports, patient communications, and daily clinical workflows
  • Recognize and respond to patient emergencies according to facility policy


Safety, Compliance & Environment

  • Maintain sterile technique, follow universal precautions, and comply with OSHA and clinic safety policies
  • Clean and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; properly dispose of biohazard materials per protocol
  • Ensure patient and staff safety, including safe transport and assistance with ambulation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program
  • Current Medical Assistant (CMA) credential in good standing
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and clinic-based health and safety precautions
  • Ability to use and apply medical terminology accurately
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical workflows and documentation standards
  • Strong communication skills with patients, providers, and staff
