Job description

• The Certifications & Projects Engineer supports the integration of aircraft avionics modifications for Boeing 767, Boeing 757, Airbus A321, and A330 aircraft. This role is responsible for creating engineering instructions, drawings, substantiation, and other technical documentation to support repair, maintenance, and modification design activities. The engineer works closely with internal teams, customers, original equipment manufacturers, and the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure modifications are properly substantiated, airworthy, and compliant with applicable Code of Federal Regulations requirements.
• In addition, this position contributes to in-house Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) development, design integration, and certification efforts for new avionics installations and system upgrades. Responsibilities may include technical writing, engineering analysis, and the creation of aircraft installation drawings and wiring diagrams. As a smaller portion of the role, engineers may also support process improvement, aircraft flight data analysis, software-based solutions, and 3D modeling or prototyping activities.
Required Job Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or Associate's degree in Engineering or a related field with two years of airline, OEM, or MRO experience
• Working knowledge of avionics engineering principles in support of subsystem definition, development, integration, and testing
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drafting application
• Familiar with 14 CFR Parts 21, 25, 26, 43, 91, 121, 125, 135, and 145
• Familiarity with compliance requirements related to Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and other FAA and OEM documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and document control discipline
Preferred Job Skills:
• FAA DER designation
• Knowledge of aircraft avionics systems
• Experience supporting certification projects for commercial aircraft modifications
• Familiarity with Boeing 767 and 757 aircraft systems, manuals, and modification practices
• Experience working in a regulated aerospace, aviation, or MRO environment
Optional Job Skills:
• Experience with aircraft data analysis, flight data analysis, or engineering process improvement projects
• Familiarity with Python and common technical packages such as pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn
• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Corel Designer
• Experience supporting 3D printing, prototyping, or light manufacturing development projects
Physical Requirements:
• Occasional work in adverse weather
• Stand, sit or work at a computer for long periods of time
• Climb stairs and ladders as needed
• Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl as required
• Wear PPE and hearing protection as required
• Occasional lifting of various weights up to 50 lbs.
