Clinical Role

Join a highly respected anesthesia team providing locums CRNA coverage in Norfolk, Virginia. This opportunity offers a collaborative care team model across multiple facilities, exposure to a wide variety of complex surgical cases, and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced Level I Trauma environment.

Assignment Details

Coverage Dates:

  • September 14, 2026 (Monday) - 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour Day Shift)
  • September 15, 2026 (Tuesday) - 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour Day Shift)
  • September 16, 2026 (Wednesday) - 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour Day Shift)
  • September 28, 2026 (Monday) - 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour Day Shift)
  • September 28, 2026 (Monday) - 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (8-hour Beeper Call)
  • September 29, 2026 (Tuesday) - 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour Day Shift)
  • September 30, 2026 (Wednesday) - 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour Day Shift)

Coverage Requirement:

Must be available for a minimum of 10 shifts per month. Greater availability is preferred. The listed shifts are required.

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting:

Patient Population:

Adult with limited pediatric exposure

Hospital Size:

Approximately 700 beds

Patient Volume:

Varies depending on assigned location

Case Mix:

  • Large Vascular
  • Neurosurgery
  • High-Risk OB/GYN
  • Orthopedics
  • General Surgery
  • Thoracic Surgery
  • Trauma
  • Limited Pediatrics (locums not required to cover)
  • No Cardiac cases required

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Administer anesthesia under a medically supervised care team model
  • Administer anesthesia medications
  • Place epidurals
  • Perform spinal anesthesia
  • Place arterial lines
  • Participate in obstetrical anesthesia
  • Provide anesthesia for trauma and outpatient surgical procedures
  • No brachial plexus or other regional nerve blocks required

Call Requirements

  • Must be willing to accept call
  • Maximum of 1-2 call shifts per month
  • Most providers will have little or no call
  • All call is beeper call (additional details pending)

  • 30+ Anesthesiologists
  • 70+ Full-Time CRNAs
  • Coverage across one Level I Trauma Center and two Community Hospitals

Requirements

  • Board Certified CRNA (NBCRNA)
  • Active Virginia license preferred
  • Virginia licensing available
  • Virginia Compact license accepted
  • Minimum experience with a Level I Trauma Center required

Credentialing

Approximately 90-120 days

Emergency credentialing may be available in approximately 30-45 days.
