Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Quality Technician to support our Quality Assurance team in maintaining the integrity of incoming materials, packaging components, and outgoing finished products. This role is critical in ensuring all receiving and shipping activities align with established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
Incoming Ingredient & Packaging Inspection
  • Inspect and test incoming raw ingredients and packaging materials against approved specifications and quality standards.
  • Review and verify Certificates of Analysis (COAs), supplier documentation, and labeling accuracy upon receipt.
  • Record inspection results accurately in quality logs, batch records, and applicable QA systems.
  • Communicate non-conformances to the SQF Practitioner, QA Manager, Material Manager, Procure Manager, and Logistics Manager and initiate hold procedures as needed.
  • Responsible for collecting ingredient samples for microbiological testing and prepping samples to be shipped to the laboratory.

RSPO Compliance - Receiving & Shipping
  • Verify RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) documentation and chain-of-custody requirements are met for all applicable incoming materials.
  • Confirm RSPO compliance for finished product shipments, including proper documentation and traceability records.
  • Maintain RSPO-related records in accordance with certification requirements and customer expectations.

Warehouse & Storage Auditing
  • Conduct routine audits of warehouse and storage areas to verify compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), allergen controls, pest control, and sanitation standards.
  • Inspect raw material, packaging, and finished goods storage for proper labeling, segregation, rotation (FIFO), and condition.
  • Document audit findings and escalate non-conformances with recommended corrective actions.
  • Inspect silo magnets and screens with the maintenance and logistics team assistance.

Quality Improvement Projects
  • Participate in and lead special quality projects focused on standardizing quality processes across receiving, warehousing, and shipping functions.
  • Assist in the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and QA forms.
  • Support internal audits and third-party audit preparation activities as directed.
  • Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support EMP program with Assist with sanitation validation of new and current lines.
  • Provide support for environmental monitoring activities, including collecting air and water samples and EMP swabs outside of the standard testing schedule, as needed.
Requirements
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or bachelor's degree in food science, Biology, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a food manufacturing quality or receiving environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with HACCP principles, GMP standards, and food safety regulations (FDA/FSMA) is a plus.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - particularly Excel (data entry, basic formulas, spreadsheet management), Word (document creation and editing), and PowerPoint (presentation preparation).
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in data recording and document review.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs, and work in refrigerated or freezer environments as needed.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift-up to 50 pounds, stack, and/or carry pans, ingredient containers, etc. for extended period.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces.
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms.
