About Root Causes Medicine

Root Causes Medicine is a patient-centered, terrain-based medical clinic focused on identifying and restoring the underlying causes of illness. We believe medicine should be relational, precise, and restorative.

Our providers treat complex and chronic conditions through functional, integrative, and naturopathic oncology care. We are growing - and we are looking for someone who thrives in a mission-driven, high-touch clinical environment.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Prescriber Assistant Specialist (PAS) to serve as the operational and relational extension of our prescribing providers.

This role supports Nurse Practitioners, our Naturopathic Oncologist, and Medical Director by ensuring:

  • Appointments are staged and flow smoothly
  • Patients feel seen and supported
  • Charts, labs, and prescriptions are organized and accurate
  • Post-visit follow-through is handled efficiently

This is not a passive medical assistant role. This is a proactive, detail-driven, emotionally intelligent position that helps protect both the patient experience and the provider's ability to focus on high-level care.

What You'll Do

Clinical & Appointment Support

  • Maintain smooth provider schedule flow

Patient Communication

  • Respond to portal messages within scope
  • Clarify provider instructions
  • Coordinate lab testing and follow-ups
  • Communicate with pharmacies, labs, and specialty vendors
  • Help de-escalate anxious or overwhelmed patients

Operational Execution

  • Monitor provider inboxes and tasks
  • Prepare prescriptions for provider review
  • Track lab results and follow up as needed
  • Manage supplement or medication inventory (if assigned)
  • Coordinate shipments when required
  • Assist with scheduling when needed

Who You Are

You are someone who:

  • Thrives in a fast-moving clinical setting
  • Anticipates needs before they are voiced
  • Is highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Can remain calm under emotional pressure
  • Enjoys helping people feel heard and supported
  • Values both systems and relationships
  • Understands professional boundaries in healthcare

This role requires emotional steadiness, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple moving pieces throughout the day.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Medical Assistant (MA)
  • 2+ years experience in a clinical setting
  • EMR experience (Cerbo experience a plus)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with technology and task management systems

Must be:

  • Dependable and professional
  • Able to multitask without sacrificing detail
  • Comfortable working closely with providers
  • Comfortable supporting patients with complex or chronic illness

Work Environment

  • In-clinic role (San Antonio, TX)
  • Mission-driven team culture
  • High-touch, relational care environment
  • Fast-paced with emotional depth

Compensation & Growth

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Opportunity for role growth and specialization
  • Pathways into senior clinical coordination or provider operations leadership

We are building something intentional.

If you want to be part of a clinic that values:
