Job description

Physician at AIM for Wellbeing

The Physician at AIM for Wellbeing is a board-certified or board-eligible clinician with a primary care foundation and a deep commitment to functional and integrative medicine. This provider delivers comprehensive, root-cause-driven medical care as the clinical anchor of a multidisciplinary integrative team โ€” working in true partnership with chiropractors, acupuncturists, dietitians, health coaches, massage therapists, Rolfers, and energy healers to produce whole-person care outcomes that conventional medicine alone cannot achieve. The Physician brings clinical depth to the full spectrum of functional medicine diagnostics and therapeutics โ€” from advanced laboratory interpretation and complex treatment planning to nutraceutical protocols, lifestyle medicine, and mind-body integration. This provider also serves as a clinical educator within the practice, participating in monthly interdisciplinary learning, mentoring learners, and contributing to AIM's research and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive new patient evaluations using a functional medicine intake framework: full health history, illness timeline, antecedents, triggers, mediators, and systems review; document all findings in Cerbo EMR.

Order and interpret advanced functional diagnostics โ€” including comprehensive metabolic panels, micronutrient testing, hormone panels (DUTCH, salivary, serum), GI mapping (GI-MAP, Genova), organic acids testing, heavy metals/environmental toxin panels, and genomic testing.

Develop individualized, root-cause-driven treatment plans integrating therapeutic nutrition, targeted supplementation, pharmaceutical interventions as appropriate, lifestyle medicine, and integrative modality referrals.

Manage a broad range of complex chronic and functional health conditions: cardiometabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune conditions, GI dysfunction, thyroid and adrenal disorders, hormonal imbalances, cognitive decline, chronic fatigue, sleep disorders, chronic pain, and environmental illness.

Provide ongoing follow-up care; reassess functional diagnostics at clinically appropriate intervals; adjust treatment plans based on outcomes and evolving patient goals.

Prescribe pharmaceutical treatments when indicated; maintain current DEA registration; manage nutraceutical-pharmaceutical interactions.

Provide clinical co-management and oversight within AIM's signature programs and memberships: Including Maya's Way (oncology support), Executive Wellness, and Get Well as well as any developed in the future.

Adhere strictly to all HIPAA, OSHA, and Ohio Medical Board requirements; maintain complete and timely Cerbo EMR documentation for all patient encounters.

Follow Medicare and applicable payer documentation guidelines; ensure clinical notes support medical necessity and coding accuracy.

Primary: Patient Experience & Communication

Ensure every patient feels better after every interaction โ€” in person, by phone, through the patient portal, or via telehealth. This is an operational standard.

Communicate clearly, compassionately, and professionally regarding diagnosis, treatment rationale, expected outcomes, and care plan expectations.

Build authentic rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds, health literacy levels, cultural norms, and health journeys.

Maintain professional appearance, clinical presence, and attentive focus during all patient interactions โ€” including while managing EMR documentation in a busy clinical environment.

Respond to patient portal messages, prescription requests, and clinical inquiries within established practice response time standards.

Primary: Integrative Team Collaboration & Leadership

Participate actively in collaborative case reviews, team huddles, and interdisciplinary care planning with chiropractors, dietitians, acupuncturists, massage therapists, Rolfers, health coaches, and energy healers.

Participate in and contribute to monthly interdisciplinary educational sessions; bring a functional medicine physician's perspective to cross-disciplinary learning.

Lead bimonthly vendor and quarterly provider-facing supplement review meetings in collaboration with the Retail & E-Commerce Manager.

Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for clinical staff on functional medicine frameworks, supplement protocols, and integrative clinical approaches.

Contribute to practice-level quality improvement, outcomes tracking, and clinical research; participate in AIM's institutional growth as a nationally recognized integrative medicine practice.

Demonstrate high situational awareness, strong clinical judgment, and decisive leadership; take full ownership of clinical decisions and proactively resolve patient care challenges.

Primary: Education, Fellowship & Research

Participate in and support the IMPOE fellowship program; serve as a teaching physician and clinical mentor for fellowship candidates rotating through AIM.

Teach and mentor medical students and residents as opportunities arise through AIM's academic and community partnerships.

Maintain professional competency through CME, functional medicine continuing education (IFM, A4M, ACAM, or equivalent), and regular literature review.

Pursue or maintain IFMCP certification; AIM actively supports this credential for all physicians.

Participate in AIM's community wellness programs, corporate wellness initiatives, and TCHHN community engagement activities as appropriate.

Secondary: Lifestyle Store Clinical Support

Provide clinical review and approval authority for supplement and nutraceutical product additions to the AIM Lifestyle Store; ensure all products meet pharmaceutical-grade quality standards.

Participate in quarterly product review meetings with the Retail & E-Commerce Manager.

Integrate targeted supplement recommendations directly into patient treatment plans; document all nutraceutical recommendations in Cerbo.
