Details Summary

The Water Authority is seeking qualified candidates for an engineering position within the Centralized Engineering of Planning and Engineering Division. Responsibilities include managing various engineering projects in support of capital improvement program, reviewing consultant-designed projects, and providing engineering support during construction. Work may include performing office and field engineering assessments, investigations, design, and project support for various facilities within the Water Authority service area including water and sewer pipes, groundwater facilities, Southside Water Reclamation Plant, and San Juan Chama Water Treatment Facility.The successful candidate may be hired at the Senior Engineer, or Principal Engineer level based on education, experience, professional licensure, and demonstrated competencies. Salary, duties, and responsibilities will be commensurate with the engineering classification at which the selected candidate is hired.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Senior Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 5+ years of advanced engineering experience to include 2 years supervisory in a management and/or administrative capacity
  • Experience leading projects, mentoring staff, and providing technical guidance
  • Salary: $40.23 - $49.05/hour ($83,678.40 - $102,024 annually)
  • Principal Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 6+ years of advanced engineering experience to include 4 years supervisory in a management and/or administrative capacity
  • Experience managing projects, supervising staff, and providing technical guidance
  • Salary: $46.22 - $56.34/hour ($96,137.60 - $117,187.20 annually)

Experience such as described in the job description may substitute for education on a year for year basis.

Position Requirements
  • Possess a Valid New Mexico Driver's License or a Valid Driver's License from another State converted to New Mexico within 1 month
  • Driving Record consistent with being issued an Authority Operator Permit by Risk Management
  • Annual Audiogram is required if assigned to Plant Groundwater
