JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary
Provides clinical and operational leadership for assigned hospital service areas to ensure high-quality, evidence-based, person-centered care; regulatory and contractual compliance; strong clinical outcomes; and sound operational performance. The Manager, Clinical Services partners with hospital and organizational leadership to support census, financial viability, staff performance, quality improvement, and continuity of care. The role may provide direct clinical services as needed to meet program obligations and maintain appropriate documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Partners with the Director/Hospital Administrator to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate assigned clinical services and makes operational adjustments needed to achieve desired clinical, programmatic, census, and financial outcomes.
Works collaboratively with leadership to manage expenses, support budget performance, monitor service utilization, and maintain appropriate census and productivity expectations for assigned services and locations.
Supports development and implementation of new or expanded services that align with organizational strategy, community need, and hospital priorities; participates in community outreach and relationship development as appropriate.
Participates in recruitment and hiring and maintains primary responsibility for onboarding, training, supervision, coaching, performance management, and evaluation of assigned staff and interns.
Ensures clinical supervision is provided consistently, timely, and in accordance with professional, regulatory, payer, and organizational requirements.
Supervises collection and review of service recipient process and outcome data; monitors program performance, site and service-line KPIs, census, productivity, and other operational indicators; communicates results and expectations to staff and leadership.
Partners with Quality and other support functions to review outcomes, incidents, quality measures, client feedback, and performance trends; develops and implements improvement actions and staff training when indicated.
Provides direct treatment or clinical support as assigned, including individual, group, or family services, and may provide consultative clinical on-call support based on hospital and program needs.
Supports planning and delivery of community education, consultation, and awareness activities related to available services.
Monitors compliance with applicable contracts, subcontracts, licensure, accreditation standards, grant requirements, payer requirements, and organizational policies and procedures; promptly escalates identified quality, compliance, or safety concerns.
Reviews clinical, billing, and service documentation for completeness and accuracy and ensures staff meet documentation and funding-source requirements, including supervisory or licensed-practitioner signatures when required.
Promotes high-quality customer service and effective collaboration with clients, families, hospital departments, referral partners, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities, which include providing direction, training, coaching, clinical oversight, and performance feedback in accordance with system policies. The position participates in hiring, performance management, disciplinary action, and staff development for assigned team members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively through written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods.
Knowledge of behavioral health clinical operations, program planning, service delivery, and evaluation.
Knowledge of applicable regulatory, accreditation, payer, documentation, and quality requirements in behavioral healthcare settings.
Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to interpret operational and clinical performance data and use findings to drive improvement.
Ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold teams accountable for clinical and operational performance.
Knowledge of grant-funded and contract-supported behavioral health services; grant proposal development experience is beneficial.
Ability to collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships with internal and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master's degree in a human services, behavioral health, counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or related field.
Experience
Minimum of three years of successful behavioral health program or service experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities, preferably in a residential substance use disorder treatment or acute inpatient behavioral health setting.
Licenses and Certifications
Current, unrestricted Florida clinical license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or ability to meet applicable role-specific licensure requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Leadership experience in an acute inpatient psychiatric hospital, crisis stabilization, or residential substance use disorder treatment setting.
Experience with clinical supervision, utilization management, quality improvement, accreditation readiness, and performance management.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and complex behavioral health populations.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Work is performed in an office, clinical, residential, and/or community-based environment depending on role and assignment. The position may involve routine use of office, clinical, or electronic systems and equipment. Duties may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and working at a computer. Work hours may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended shifts based on program needs. This position is classified as sedentary work. Sedentary work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
The role may require occasional travel between Centerstone locations and availability outside standard business hours based on hospital or program needs.
