CEMETERY WORKER 2 CLOSING DATE: Open until filledPAY RATE: $20.99 - $29.38 per hour, depending on qualifications & experience, with starting wage not typically above the mid-point of the range ($25.18).SCHEDULE: 6:30 am - 5:00 pm (Wednesday - Saturday), some holidays required.DEPARTMENT: Cemetery JOB SUMMARYPerforms a variety of general skilled and semi-skilled duties related to cemetery operations, cemetery turf management and beautification, facilities maintenance, construction and repair; responds to public questions, explains cemetery procedures and policies; assists with funerals by directing processions and coordinating cemetery activities; assists people in locating graves; supervises the work of head stone and vault companies. May act as lead worker in the absence of Cemetery Supervisor or Cemetery Sexton.RESPONSIBLITIES AND QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from high school and two (2) years of experience in the maintenance, upkeep, and beautification of turf and cemeteries or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to lift 50 pounds.Must have a working knowledge of cemetery maintenance equipment such as backhoe, mowers, tractors, aerators and trimmers.Knowledge and application of landscape and sprinkler systems.Understanding of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and pesticides.Ability to recognize, identify, and apply chemicals for the abatement and eradication of noxious weeds and insects.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, subordinates, and the public.Employment in this position is conditional upon passing a pre-employment background and drug test.
