Helps maintain cemetery grounds by performing miscellaneous tasks; operates backhoe in order to prepare grave sites; prepares burial grounds for funerals; performs various landscaping duties; maintains cleanliness and neatness of roadways and walkways; leads processions into the cemetery as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepares grave sites and back fills them to state specifications using a backhoe.

Maintains cemetery grounds, including fertilizing, mowing, edging, trimming, and pruning. Maintains all roadways and walkways, including picking up trash, and clearing weeds. Assists in setting up burial grounds for funerals when needed.

Leads the procession into the cemetery as needed. Supervises working inmates to perform various projects at the cemetery. Maintain County issued vehicle and equipment in a clean and good working condition.

Qualifications, Education, and/or experience To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school graduation or its equivalent, plus at least one year of experience. Must have and maintain a valid, clear driving record. Knowledge, Skills and/or ability Will train how to operate a backhoe; state regulations for burial preparation; and basic landscaping practices and procedures.

Operate backhoe; perform landscaping tasks, such as mowing, edging, and trimming; supervise work of inmates; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, inmates, and the general public.
