Salary: $20-$26 per hour

At Farm Collective, we create wines, experiences, and stories unlike any in the world and inspire people through highly-expressive winemaking, sincere hospitality, and cool, creative environments. Our talented winemaking team produces wine for Tank Garage Winery and James Cole Winery. Whilewe may be a small team, we work with a wide range of grape varietals and produce an impressive variety of red, white, ros, sparkling and natural wines. Given the extensive number of grape varieties we work with, harvests here can be intense and long, but the opportunity for learning and mentorship are enormous.


We are looking to add a Cellar Hand to our team. This position assists in all bulk wine movements, performs barrel work, upholds all safety standards and SOPs, completes harvest cellar work, and helps to ensure the overall safety, cleanliness and organization of our cellar. This position typically works Monday through Friday but may require night and/or weekend hours based on business needs, especially during the harvest season.
RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Execute all bulk wine movements and barrel work under the direction of the winemaking team.
  • Uphold SOPs and adhere to safety standards at all times.
  • Perform racking, blending, barrel downs, topping, filtering, bottling, cleaning and sanitation.
  • During harvest, cellar work will include, but will not be limited to, grape processing, pumpovers & punchdowns, drain and press, fermentation management and cleaning.
  • Maintain cellar cleanliness and organization.
  • Drive company vehicles for errands and transportation of supplies and materials, as needed.
  • Drive a class 6 truck for grape and bulk wine movements (commercial license not required).
  • Actively embrace the continuous improvement process by identifying opportunities for problem solving and improvement of efficiencies.
  • Assist with other projects and initiatives as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Previous cellar and winemaking experience.
  • Have a valid California drivers license, clean driving record, and be insurable.
  • Able to communicate clearly in English (spoken and written).
  • Able to read, understand and follow work and safety-based SOPs.
  • Have flexibility and willingness to work in changing environments.
  • Ability to work extended shifts during harvest.
  • A positive, proactive, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Forklift experience is ideal but not required.
  • Spanish proficiency a plus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Work will be on-site at our Napa, CA facility.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a repetitive basis and to work standing up on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires the ability to climb a ladder on a regular basis.
  • This position requires the ability to bend, squat, push, pull, carry, and reach for objects as necessary.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & PERKS

  • Hourly pay rate of $20-$26 per hour. Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
