Job description

Position Title: Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG)
Salary: $55-$70/hour DOE
If you're looking for an opportunity to work on technically challenging geological projects while building long-term relationships with clients, this role offers the best of both worlds. Join a well-established engineering consulting firm where you'll lead complex fault investigations, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior professionals, and contribute to projects that shape communities across California.
The Geologist CEG LA will play a vital role in managing various project phases from investigation to remediation. This position demands a candidate who can perform independent fieldwork and oversee subcontractors effectively. The ideal individual will possess a flexible approach to diverse projects and demonstrate excellent communication skills. A commitment to workplace health and safety is essential, along with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Geologist CEG LA Responsibilities:
  • Prepare proposals and geotechnical reports
  • Conduct faulting trenching to assess active fault lines and recommend site improvements
  • Perform CPT Fault Studies that include shallow groundwater analysis
  • Collaborate with grading contractors to facilitate project progress
  • Respond to client inquiries and communicate technical concepts in an understandable manner
  • Engage with developers, landscape architects, structural engineers, and civil engineers
  • Manage projects with minimal oversight while demonstrating responsible judgment
  • Support marketing efforts to attract new clients
  • Write technical reports and maintain project documentation

Geologist CEG LA Requirements:
  • 5-10+ years of experience in environmental consulting
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology
  • CEG certification or in the process of obtaining it
  • Experience with faulting trenching and groundwater studies
  • Ability to perform hands-on fieldwork and crawl in/out of trenches
  • Proficient in Excel and technologically adept
  • Valid California driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for site travel
  • Experience working with local and state agencies
  • Experience writing phase one and phase two reports is preferred
