Job description

Stratton Mountain Resort in Stratton Mountain, Vermont is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Part-Time or Full-Time Racquets Professional at Cliff Drysdale Tennis School! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon & Cliff Drysdale Tennis, you will contribute to a global leader in tennis, golf and community management.

The ideal candidate will be able to start in time for the indoor winter program and ready for a busy on court indoor winter season, building clientele and working alongside the director in adult and junior clinic programming.

Compensation: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour DOE

Position Summary:
Provides the ultimate experience by providing the highest quality Racquet Sports (Tennis and Pickleball) instruction and customer service programming with our extensive outdoor summer program and indoor winter program held during the ski season. As a member of the Cliff Drysdale Tennis family, there exists the possibility of the candidate being selected for travel team events at our partner clubs all around the country throughout the year; very useful for supplement work hours during the quieter seasons (spring and fall). The summer season represents our busiest period, with an increased number of seasonal professionals joining the director and year-round team to support operational demands.

 Essential Duties:
  • Provides beginning through advanced instruction (private and group) for all levels of players.
  • Assists in the promotion of and conducting Racquet Sports clinics, private lessons, special events and programs to attract and maintain members’/guests’ Racquet Sports interests.
  • Develop safe, professional, and comprehensive Raquet Sports lessons and programs to ensure students develop along a pathway that will encourage continued involvement in Racquet Sports.
  • Assisting with the running of Special Events
    throughout the year would be the key tasks in this position, with the inclusion of teaching summer camps during the summer season.
  • Assists in supervising play and ensures proper charging of fees.
  • Ensure students understand all Racquet Sports rules, scoring procedures, safety rules and etiquette.
  • Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property.
  • Performs racquet stringing.
  • Performs court maintenance.
  • Quickly and efficiently responds to member/guest questions, comments, and concerns.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 2-year experience required.
  • Experience teaching Racquet Sports lessons to adults and juniors of various levels.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequently stands, walks, uses hands, talks, hears, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Occasionally sits.
  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
 Environment/Noise:
  • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Noise level is moderate.
Other Requirements:
  • Travel 45% year-round.
  • Must have current driver's license and personal vehicle for transportation to and from work.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the staff may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment used are in English).
  • Retail sales experience is preferred.
  • Computer proficiency including but not limited to POS, Microsoft Office applications, social media and other programs related to tennis such as tennisdirector.com or Club Automation.
  • Skill level equivalent to a minimum 4.0 USTA rating.
