Job description

This position is in support of the Department of State (DOS) as a part of the Vanguard 2.2.1 contract. The candidate will be responsible for the development and maintenance of Virtualization solutions utilizing VMWare, NetAPP Storage, and Microsoft Windows Active Directory for the purposes of hosting PKI systems. The preferred candidate must possess demonstratable skills in designing and implementing such a solution. Additionally, the preferred candidate will be expected to research, analyze, evaluate, and develop a strategy and solution to meet Zero Trust Architecture framework, including the introduction of enforcing least-privilege access, ensuring continuous authentication, automating governance of the Active Directory (AD) environments, and implementing just-in-time (JIT) provisioning.

This role currently requires at least 4 days/week in the office, but is subject to change with at the customer's request.   

Description of Duties: 

  • Execute the duties and responsibilities as a member of the Identity Management Office (IMO). 
  • Implement VMware technology solutions for virtualization, networking, and storage infrastructures.
  • Provide operational engineering support to enterprise-level solutions using virtual server hosting, backup solutions, off-site data replication and service level storage solutions.
  • Provision Virtual Machines and patches to the software and hardware hosting infrastructure.
  • Update system and process documentation and user guides as needed diagrams and SOPs as needed.
  • Design, test, and deploy VMware vSphere and vCenters hosting platform.
  • Design, test and deploy Microsoft Active Directory Forest are integrated with Just-in-time administration to support multiple PKI systems.
  • Provide technical support to end users, operations, and management.
  • Deploy and administer NetApp Storage - ONTAP, Troubleshooting Performance Issues, performing firmware and operating system upgrades, using storage management tools - OnCommand Unified Manager/ Performance Manager Insight/Cluster Switch migration and Firewall upgrade processes and procedures.

Required Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelors degree and 9 years of experience; Masters and 7 years; May accept an equivalent combination of professional education/training and applicable work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Strong Windows Active Directory deployment, management and administration. 
  • VMWare and vSphere design, integration, and deployment.
  • Knowledge or Training on VMware deployment, configuration, and maintenance. 
  • Experience working with stakeholders to capture/document requirements.
  • Proficient understanding of NetApp Storage concepts, related management tools, and related Storage technologies including monitoring and troubleshooting, administration, replication technologies.
  • Strong understanding of Storage protocols and technologies. (CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, Fiber Channel switching and networks).
  • Experience deploying and administering NetApp Storage - CDOT and 7-Mode, Troubleshooting Performance Issues, performing firmware and operating system upgrades, using storage management tools - OnCommand Unified Manager/ Performance Manager/ Insight, Managing backup integration with NetApp technologies.
  • A thorough understanding of other components in the infrastructure stack - compute, virtualization and networks: (NetApp/Cisco Flex pod architecture, Cisco UCS platform, IBM Blade Center, System X, VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications, Commvault).
  • Strong customer communication and documentation skills.
  • Infrastructure design, building, deployment and disaster recovery testing.
  • Positive, proactive, team-orientated attitude with a flexible and innovative approach to work.

Clearance Requirement: 

  • US Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance. Must be able to obtain an interim top secret prior to starting work.
