About the Role:

The Network Orchestration, Monitoring, Alerting, and Diagnostics (NOMAD) team within Comcast’s CONNECT-ivity organization seeks a technology leader to serve as Manager, CDN Automation Development within the CDN infrastructure engineering vertical. In this role, you will lead a team that builds and operates automation to manage Comcast’s nationwide Content Delivery Network. Comcast’s CDN, including services for syndication partners, carries more than 50 Tbps of video and other traffic at peak and serves subscribers from the closest possible edge locations to deliver a premium entertainment experience. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong engineering leadership, clear communication, and consistent execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Talent Development 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineers at all levels 
  • Build a high performing, inclusive engineering culture grounded in unrelenting curiosity and perpetual pursuit of excellence 
  • Champion engineering excellence, innovation, and modernization initiatives 

Engineering Delivery & Execution 

  • Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery of CDN infrastructure automation from concept through launch and ongoing optimization 
  • Implement and optimize modern SDLC practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, incident management, and engineering metrics 
  • Oversee the planning, estimation, resourcing, and sequencing of complex cross functional engineering initiatives 

Technical Oversight & Governance 

  • Set architectural direction and make key technical decisions 
  • Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability 
  • Reduce operational risk through disciplined incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement 

Stakeholder Management & Communication 

  • Serve as the engineering executive point of contact for senior leadership, business partners, compliance, and operations 
  • Translate complex technical concepts and tradeoffs into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences 

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For:

  • 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 3+ years as an engineering lead or engineering manager 
  • Advanced proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code, including Concourse CI/CD, Ansible (Jinja2 templates, roles, custom modules), and Git/GitHub Infrastructure-as-Code, including Concourse CI/CD, Ansible (Jinja2 templates, roles, custom modules), and Git/GitHub 
  • Deep experience with Linux systems administration within large-scale distributed environments 
  • Strong proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages (Python, Go, Bash, or similar) 
  • Understanding of DNS, HTTP/S, TLS, TCP/IP 
  • Experience designing and supporting high-traffic platforms at global scale 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, drive change, and manage cross functional initiatives 
  • Ability to manage a distributed team across multiple time zones 
  • Excellent communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills 

Additional “Nice to Have” Skills:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 
  • Hands-on experience operating or automating large-scale CDN, caching, or reverse proxy environments 
  • Direct experience with Apache Traffic Control and Apache Traffic Server 
  • Familiarity with BGP, Anycast, and advanced IP network routing concepts 
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized, immutable deployment models
