Strong observation skills, integrity, and effective communication set top performers apart in this field. These abilities are critical to accurately monitor premises, respond appropriately to incidents, and ensure the safety and security of people and property.

What is a CCTV security professional?

CCTV security jobs involve monitoring and operating closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to help prevent theft, vandalism, and other security breaches in various environments such as offices, retail stores, and public spaces. Job description

Part-Time Low Voltage CAD Drafter

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Part-Time Low Voltage CAD Drafter to support our construction projects with drafting and plan preparation for CCTV, security, and public address (PA) systems.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of hands-on experience drafting low-voltage electrical systems, understands conduit and cabling layouts, and can communicate clearly in English on a daily basis.

This is a remote/part-time position with flexible working hours within our required communication window. Hours will be tracked.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and revise CAD drawings for low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Draft conduit and cabling layouts for:
    • CCTV / video surveillance systems
    • Security systems
    • Access control systems
    • Public address (PA) systems
    • Other related low-voltage systems as needed
  • Review architectural, electrical, and low-voltage drawings to develop accurate layouts.
  • Incorporate redlines, field markups, and design revisions into CAD drawings.
  • Coordinate conduit routing, cable pathways, device locations, and system layouts.
  • Follow project-specific CAD standards, layering, symbols, notes, and drawing conventions.
  • Make revisions quickly and accurately based on direction from the project team.
  • Communicate questions, conflicts, and drafting issues promptly.
  • Participate in phone calls or Microsoft Teams meetings when needed.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the project team throughout the workday.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience drafting low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Experience with CCTV, security, and/or PA systems.
  • Experience drafting conduit and cabling layouts.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and electrical plans.
  • Ability to interpret redlines and convert them into accurate CAD drawings.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with the project team on a daily basis.
  • Reliable internet connection and computer capable of handling CAD drawings.
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines.

Required Availability & Communication

This position requires daily availability for communication between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Pacific Time.

You do not necessarily need to work continuously during the entire 8:00 AM–5:00 PM period; however, you must be reachable by phone or Microsoft Teams during normal business hours and able to respond to project-related questions and requests in a timely manner.

Regular communication is an important part of this position.

Time Tracking

All working hours will be tracked and recorded.

The drafter will be expected to accurately record time spent performing project-related work. Time tracking may include the use of computer-based time-tracking software.

Paid Trial Period

Before being selected for ongoing work, qualified candidates will complete a paid trial drafting assignment using real-world examples similar to the work we perform.

The trial may include:

  • Reviewing an existing set of construction drawings
  • Interpreting redlines or markups
  • Drafting conduit pathways
  • Showing cable routing
  • Placing CCTV/security/PA devices
  • Making revisions to an existing CAD drawing
  • Following project-specific drafting standards

The trial will be paid and will be used to evaluate drafting accuracy, speed, attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and communication.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable and responsive
  • Detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Able to communicate clearly in English
  • Experienced with construction drawings
  • Familiar with low-voltage systems
  • Able to follow instructions and drafting standards
  • Available for ongoing part-time work

This position is best suited for someone looking for a long-term part-time drafting opportunity rather than occasional or one-time drafting work.

To Apply

Please provide:

  1. A brief summary of your low-voltage drafting experience.
  2. Number of years of AutoCAD experience.
  3. Experience with CCTV, security, access control, and PA systems.
  4. Examples or a portfolio of relevant CAD work, if available.
  5. Your hourly rate.
  6. Your general availability between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
  7. Confirmation that you are comfortable with daily phone/Microsoft Teams communication and tracked working hours.

Qualified applicants will be contacted regarding the paid trial drafting assignment.
