Job description

Description: Community Consolidated School District 89 is seeking a Full-Time, 1:1 CNA for Westfield Elementary School. This position is five days a week, during the school day (approximately 7 hours) and supports the needs of a Special Education student in our classroom. This position would be for the 2026-2027 school year working 179 days.
Qualifications: All applicants for this position are required to meet Illinois requirements for a licensed CNA.
Duties and Responsibilities (may include but not limited to the following): 

  1. Assist students with physical elements of hygiene, bath rooming, occupational therapy, feeding, clothing, diapering, transfers, etc.
  2. Assist students with daily transitions (e.g., transition between tasks and/or rooms, lunch, playground, etc.)
  3. Assist students in the general education classroom, helping the student to access the curriculum under supervision of the special education teacher
  4. Assist the special education teacher in implementing student's Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goals and accommodations
  5. Monitor the student to ensure his/her safety and the safety of other people
  6. Foster and encourage the independence of the student
  7. Establish a positive and nurturing relationship with the student
  8. Assist in supporting classroom discipline
  9. Assist student during field trips and other outings (e.g., assist transportation drivers secure wheelchairs when appropriate, on bus/van, assist students with orientation and mobility, assist teacher(s) in monitoring students for safety, etc.)
  10. Collect and maintain data as directed by supervising teacher

All district 89 employees are expected to maintain high standards in their school relationships, to demonstrate integrity and honesty, to be considerate and cooperative, and to maintain professional relationships with students, parents, staff members and others.
Salary and Benefits:  All non-certified staff that fall under the Support Professional Association "SPA" are placed on a salary schedule according to position and experience as part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  The hourly range for this position is: $19.00-$22.75
Non-Certified staff experience 12 sick days and 2 personal days of paid time off. All full-time staff have the privilege of partaking in our health and dental insurance programs; these include 90% Board paid health insurance for the employee (80% Board paid for Family participants) and 100% Board paid dental insurance for the individual staff member.
