Job description

Cuero Regional Hospital is searching for a FT HIM Rural Health Clinic and Professional Fee Medical Coder.
  • The Rural Health Clinic (RHC) and Professional Fee (ProFee) Medical Coder is responsible for accurately reviewing, assigning, and validating ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes for professional medical services provided in a Rural Health Clinic.
  • This role ensures compliance with federal regulations, payer requirements, Rural Health Clinic billing guidelines, and coding standards while optimizing reimbursement and maintaining documentation integrity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • He/She will report to the HIM Director.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of professional fee coding . Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and E/M coding guidelines. Familiarity with CMS regulations, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI), and payer-specific coding policies minimum
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P), or equivalent coding certification required
  • Medical coding knowledge.
  • Must be able to multi-task and answer telephone in prompt & courteous manner.
