Purpose/SummaryThe Adjunct Instructor for Psychology is responsible for teaching part-time within the program. The successful Adjunct Instructor for Psychology must possess the academic and practical expertise to guide student learning and success, and to serve as a mentor and model for students. This position will demonstrate strong instructional skills and engage a diverse student body using traditional, nontraditional, and innovative methods of instruction and effectively structure classes and curriculum to support program and course outcomes.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY DUTIESThe Psychology Adjunct instructor will deliver instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the course syllabus; maintain grade and attendance records; recognize and respond appropriately to student diversity; utilize clear learning goals and well-planned activities; being available, either face to face or electronically to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment. Primary teaching duties will be within the PSY (PSY) discipline. Adjunct instructors are hired to teach classes on an as-needed, usually semester-by-semester basis. All such teaching assignments are dependent on schedule and enrollment. Beyond teaching, adjunct instructors are active participants in the department with opportunities to engage in professional development, department projects, and program assessment.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: The successful Psychology adjunct instructor must have a Master's degree (or higher) in Psychology or related Master's degree and at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline to be taught.
Preferred Experience: Two (2) years of experience teaching Psychology in a community college, college or university setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:- Experience teaching in multi-cultural settings.
- Collaborative teaching experience.
- Demonstrated skills working with a team.
- Curriculum and program development experience is helpful.
- Knowledge of, and experience with program assessment.
- Experience teaching on-line courses.
- Applied job and/or research experience is helpful.
- Experience with the use of student Learning Management Systems (D2L), instructional technology, and Microsoft Office programs.
