Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Level 3 Technician will perform repair work and maintenance for cars, trucks, and other motor

vehicles


TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Consults with foreman/lead technician to collect information on vehicle history, problem with the

vehicle, and/or known maintenance or repairs required.

• Completes necessary diagnostic actions required to duplicate customer concern/complaint and

follows diagnostic troubleshooting procedures including but not limited to guided component tests,

wiring schematics, technical service bulletins, recalls, etc.

• Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment.

• Performs tests on specific parts and systems to determine whether they are operating properly.

• Examines critical parts and systems using standard checklists.

• Enter parts and notes on customer invoices.

• Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.

• Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such brake pads, belts, water pumps,

transmissions, and other mechanical parts.

• Conducts post-repair testing that remedies customer complaint/concern listed above.

• Test drives vehicle to confirm proper operation, that repairs have been made properly, and that

problems have been resolved.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Master technician certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence or

equivalent required.

• 5+ years of related experience required

• Clear MVR

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:

• Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair.

• Proficient with planning work, selecting proper tools, using computer diagnostic equipment, and

software.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.

• Ability to read service and repair manuals and work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.

• Ability to read work orders and rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.

• Ability to perform repairs and perform quality checks in a timely fashion.

• Perform a variety of duties that may change often.

• Ability to operate equipment is desired.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to

noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving

objects, sharp edges, and in all types of weather and temperature conditions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Frequent bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and crouching.

• Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding or high structures.

• Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents.

• Hearing capacity to receive, perceive and react to common construction environment auditory

stimuli.

• Lifting to 50 pounds and occasional exertion of force.

• Frequent driving of motor vehicles.
