JOB SUMMARY:
The Equipment Shop Technician III will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining engine, hydraulic and electrical systems for heavy construction equipment. A minimum of 5 years of heavy equipment mechanics is required.
Typical Duties:
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems on various types of heavy construction equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections to ensure equipment reliability and operational safety.
• Operate vehicles and heavy construction machinery during testing and diagnostic procedures.
• Disassemble, repair, clean, and reassemble parts for construction equipment to proper working condition.
• Utilize hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic construction equipment to identify and correct issues.
• Reference manuals, technical bulletins, and computer-based diagnostic tools for troubleshooting heavy construction equipment.
• Document work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future services.
• Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures and industry standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or equivalent.
• Valid and active Driver’s License.
• Must have own
OTHER:
• CDL Class A or B is a plus.
• Welding Certification is a plus.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
• Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally.
• Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity for detailed repair work.
• Hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common construction environment auditory stimuli.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and tools safely.
