The Sr CM is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and managing the daily operations of residential construction within assigned communities. This role involves mentoring, training, and supervising Assistant Construction Managers and Construction Managers, ensuring they follow company policies and procedures, and overseeing progress throughout the construction process.

Your Responsibilities on the Team

  • Manage the job site and supervise daily trade partner activities in accordance with job schedules and business partner scopes of work, walking assigned homes twice a day.
  • Plan all construction activities on homes from start to finish, including but not limited to pre-construction meetings, pre-drywall meetings, and final presentation meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with City or County requirements, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain job site cleanliness and safety in accordance with State & Federal guidelines, keeping accurate safety logs and conducting regular safety meetings.
  • Perform SWPPP inspections as required by County, State & Federal guidelines, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Utilize Build Pro for trade partner notification and invoice approval.
  • Negotiate solutions raised by inspectors and trade partners.
  • Provide trade partner feedback to the Lead Construction Manager concerning timeliness, attention to detail, and overall performance.
  • Approve trade partner invoices upon satisfactory job completion.
  • Oversee Assistant Construction Managers and Construction Managers, ensuring effective training and mentorship.
  • Conduct field meetings with trade partners, construction staff, and sales staff.
  • Manage departmental performance against agreed targets and budgets while adhering to company policies and standards.
  • Partner with municipality inspectors for timely approvals of development phases.

Your Toolbox

  • High school diploma or GED required. College Degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in project/construction management in residential construction required.
  • Supervisory role experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, and document management.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Word and Excel).
  • Excellent follow-up, communication (both written and verbal), and time management skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Valid auto insurance coverage.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical & Office/Site Presence Requirements:

Regular, in-person attendance at Company communities/job sites and offices during regular work hours is an essential function of this job. Requires the ability to work more than eight hours per day in the confined quarters of a construction trailer, the ability to operate a motor vehicle, read plans, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and/or carry equipment which may be in excess of 50 pounds. Job may require occasional operation of construction equipment. Finger dexterity may be required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
