We are hiring Bus Operators with Class A or B CDL with a Passenger Endorsement.
Attend one of the following on-site hiring events. Hiring Events will include one-on-one interviews.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate CATS Transit Buses safely on prescribed scheduled routes as directed.
  • Collects/records bus fares, and transfers in accordance with CATS procedures.
  • Promote exemplary customer service of the Charlotte Area Transit System by providing safe, courteous, timely, and dependable service while transporting CATS customers.
  • Input information into computer-based equipment such as Automated Vehicle Locator (AVL), Automatic Passenger Counter, (APC) fare-box and destination displays (requires touch key entering).
  • Able to read and interpret maps and complex schedules and provide route and schedule information to transit customers.
  • Assist in the boarding of disable customers who require the aid of accessible vehicles (wheelchairs/scooters) for the purpose of mobility.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must possess and maintain a Commercial Class "A" or "B" CDL Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement.
  • No driving While Intoxicated (DWI) conviction within last three (3) years, and no more than one (1) DWI on driving history.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and ability to deal courteously with the public.
  • Requires long periods of sitting while driving/operating transit bus.
  • Must successfully pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical (medical) examination.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check that will be assessed by Transit Management of Charlotte.
  • Must be able to work variable shifts and irregular hours, holidays and weekends. Schedules are based on seniority.
  • Must be able to communicate in the English both orally and written. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Must successfully complete 8-week bus operator training.
  • Starting wage is $24.96 per hour after completion of 8-weeks paid training.
