Military Flight Controls Division Supporting aircraft worldwide, Parker Aerospace's Military Flight Controls Division (MFCD) provides primary and secondary flight control systems that make flight possible. Tested, proven and trusted in commercial and military applications for decades, MFCD provides precise position-control actuation solutions for military aircraft across the United States and with foreign partners. The division's JetPipe electrohydraulic servovalve (EHSV) technology is used across commercial and military aircraft around the world. Headquartered in Irvine, California, the Military Flight Controls Division is the global leader in fly-by-wire flight control systems and electrohydraulic products and offers the world's most advanced motor design capabilities for flight controls.

POSITION SUMMARY:

With minimum supervision, responsible for the design of minor components or portions of major functional systems and modifying existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material and planning groups.

  • Prepare original rough design concepts and layouts utilizing computer aided 3D design software. 

  • Detail designs using basic manufacturing and assembly knowledge.

  • Gather information and make studies for research of drafting and minor design problems.

  • Utilize specifications, reference data and vendor data to complete design and drafting assignments.

  • Direct, assist and check detail and assembly drawings for production hardware and check complete layouts and specifications prepared by others.

  • Perform tolerance studies and associated mathematical calculations. Participate in design failure modes and effects analyses. 

  • Efficiently use Product Lifecycle Management tools.

  • Perform other related responsibilities.

Job Requirements: 

  • Five years modeling and drafting experience and an AA degree in drafting or a certificate of completion of an engineering program from a trade school or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, ANSI Y14.5, military standards for engineering drawings, DOD-STD-100 and DOD-D-1000, hydraulic principles, machine shop practices and proficient in the use of descriptive geometry and trigonometry.
  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD - CATIA preferred.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range:  30.42/hr to 50.71/hr
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
