Job Summaryย 

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.ย 

  • Work with other accounting members in a team environment, working towards common strategic goals.ย 
  • Under direct supervision, apply principles of accounting to record financial information and prepare financial reports.ย 
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the accounting software, financial reporting and general ledger structure.ย 
  • Prepare and document routine general ledger entries.ย 
  • Complete assigned account reconciliations independently resolving discrepancies.ย 
  • Serve as a backup for accounts payable functions
  • Assist with recurring tasks such as bank deposits, check runs, payroll review, etc.ย 
  • Compile and prepare financial data and reports using various software applications.ย 
  • Recognize and communicate improper/unusual transactions to Controller.ย 
  • Assist in the preparation for the annual audits.ย 
  • Create and maintain audit trail of all activities involving the general ledger.ย 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships, including partnering with programs and other internal customers by providing financial support.ย 
  • Stay abreast of and assist in implementation of employee training for changing business requirements including documentation of processes and procedures.ย 
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance controls, financial performance and data reliability.ย 
  • Assist team members with project work as needed.ย 

Qualifications and Skillsย 

  • Belief in the mission of Seton Catholic Schools and belief that all children deserve an excellent education.ย 
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree or equivalent years of experience.ย 
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP, ReQlogic, and Paycom a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and establish an efficient, flexible schedule to achieve operational goals.ย 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, establish priorities and be consistent in meeting deadlines.ย 
  • Self-motivated and high achieving; thrives on a small team as both an individual contributor and collaborative team member.ย 
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to serve all of Seton Catholic Schoolโ€™s customers and constituencies.
  • Must meet driving and Seton insurance liability coverage requirements.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires physical skills that will allow the employee to work in a typical office setting, such as standing, sitting, talking, and listening on the phone, and moving between offices and buildings. Must be willing and able to travel between campuses as needed. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up toย 10 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
