Job description

Job Description:

This position is eligible for up to two days remote work per week.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Integration Specialist will be responsible for managing the integration of various software applications, systems, and databases to ensure seamless interoperability and data flow across the university's IT landscape. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining integration solutions to support efficient operations and information exchange.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and implement integration solutions to connect disparate systems enabling data flow and interoperability across the university's IT ecosystem using our Integration Platform as a Service(iPaaS) technologies.
  • Research and leverage 3rd party application programming interfaces (APIs) to facilitate communication and data exchange between different systems, ensuring security and efficiency in data transmission.
  • Analyze data structures, perform data mapping, and define transformation rules to ensure data consistency and integrity during integration processes.
  • Collaborate with OIT teams, stakeholders, and vendors to design integrations that align with the university's strategic goals and support scalability and flexibility.
  • Identify and resolve integration issues, conduct troubleshooting, and provide technical support to ensure the smooth functioning of integrated systems.
  • Create comprehensive documentation of integration processes, configurations, and best practices. Develop and enforce integration standards and guidelines.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, database administrators, and business analysts, to understand integration needs and requirements.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with OIT teams, vendors, and external support resources to address complex technical issues and maintain effective communication channels.
  • Participate in all efforts of the OIT department to enhance the effective use of technology at the University.
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems Science, Software Engineering or related field or an Associate's degree with 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in system integration, iPaaS technologies, RESTful APIs, SOAP services, JSON/XML processing and HTTP based data exchange.
  • Experience with no code/low code tools or programming languages.
  • Proficiency in integration tools and technologies (e.g., middleware platforms, ETL tools, API management platforms, etc.) and hands-on experience with various integration methods and protocols.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, relational databases, SQL, and data transformation techniques.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in computer science, Information Systems Science, Software Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in system integration, iPaaS technologies, or a related field in an educational or similar environment.
  • Relevant certifications in integration technologies are advantageous.
