What you will do

The Events Specialist advances Catholic Charities' fundraising goals by designing and executing donor-centered events and cultivating corporate partnerships with strong attention to detail and follow-through. The role plans targeted events with clear objectives, manages logistics and budgets, and uses donor and partner insights to strengthen engagement and long-term relationships. It also leads corporate gift and sponsorship efforts while ensuring accurate records, timely communication, and a high-quality, personalized donor experience aligned with the organization's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

1. Events Management/Sponsorship Acquisition/Donor Relations (70%)

Lead and execute special events on time and within budget, overseeing timelines, contracts, logistics, and follow-up to ensure a seamless donor experience.

Grow event and corporate sponsorship revenue through strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with accurate, timely, and tailored communications.

Build and maintain strong donor relationships through responsive follow-up, empathetic engagement, and personalized recognition aligned with donor preferences.

Capture and use feedback from events to refine strategies, while maintaining accurate records, documentation, and process continuity.

Collaborate with Development and Marketing to ensure all donor-facing materials and communications are accurate, consistent, and donor-centered.

2. Community Outreach (10%)

Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners.

Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and ensure timely, professional follow-up that reflects Catholic Charities' commitment to stewardship and relationship management.

3. Marketing & Communications (10%)

Develop and execute donor and prospect calling strategies; maintain detailed, accurate call records to ensure continuity across the development team.

Collaborate with Development Officers to determine and implement follow-up strategies for event attendees, ensuring donor interests and feedback are clearly documented and acted upon.

Prepare and manage invitations and event-related publications, ensuring accuracy in names, titles, giving levels, and recognition language to support a respectful donor experience.

4. Administrative Responsibilities (10%)

Enter event contact data and gift-in-kind information into Salesforce, etc., maintaining high standards of accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

Organize and maintain electronic and hard copy files to ensure records are current, accessible.

Assist in preparing budgets and event reports, reconciling expenses and revenue to ensure financial accuracy and transparency.

What we're looking for (Required Qualifications)

Education: Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Communications, or related field

Experience: Requires three (3) years of work experience in events management, development, or relevant sales and marketing experience.

Skills & Competencies: Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events and corporate sponsorship activities, including ability to ask for and close sponsorships of $5,000 and above. Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines. Able to articulate the mission and programs of Catholic Charities to a diverse constituency, including Catholic and non-Catholic denominations.
