The Catholic Chaplain to the School of Nursing and The School of Health advances this mission and vision in collaboration with the Chaplain to the Medical Center and staff colleagues from Catholic Ministry. The Chaplain upholds and promotes the Catholic identity, Jesuit mission and Ignatian spiritual tradition among diverse students and staff. They are responsible for providing pastoral presence, spiritual direction, and support to the Nursing and Health School communities.

Work Interactions

The Catholic Chaplain reports to the Director of Catholic Life works in collaboration with the Catholic Chaplain to the Medical Center. They serve as a primary spiritual resource for students, faculty, staff through programs, retreats, spiritual direction, and pastoral counseling. They supervise student worker/s and volunteers as required.

In collaboration with the Catholic Chaplain to the Medical Center, The Chaplain promotes the Catholic and Jesuit identity at school ceremonies and events. They have a significant impact on the spiritual lives of students, faculty and staff, and serve as a partner in our Catholic and Ignatian traditions.

Requirements and Qualifications

Requires Master of Divinity or equivalent, and 3+ years' relevant ministry experience. Must be a member of the Catholic Church in good standing, with a strong knowledge of the Ignatian spiritual tradition, deep expertise in pastoral leadership, a solid understanding of clinical contexts, and sensitivity to the pastoral needs of a diverse community. Requires the ability to work in close and mutual collaboration with leaders of other religious traditions.

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
