FULL SUMMARY
The Mining Field Technician is responsible for independent diagnosis, failure analysis, and repair of Caterpillar mining equipment to the customer's satisfaction in the field, shop, or customer's location. Duties include but not limited to removing, repairing, assembling, installing according to manufacturer specifications and technician appropriate skillset. This position will complete required repairs on assigned customer mining site and will adhere to all site procedures and safety requirements. Depending on the assigned field truck GVW, a DOT Med Card or Class A CDL is required.
  • Diagnosis, Troubleshooting, and Repair
  • Engines and Powertrain
  • Electrical, Hydraulics, HVAC, and Cab
  • Undercarriage

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to independently schedule and perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to obtain job related certifications for any specialty equipment such as but not limited to forklifts, rigging and overhead cranes, etc.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others to include customers, vendors, employees and the public.
  • General knowledge of manufacturer specific software. (SIS, ET, and STW)
  • Consistent attendance and timeliness with the ability to work overtime with limited notice.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Associates degree in diesel technology, trade school diploma, preferred.
  • Minimum of three years equivalent experience in a Caterpillar mining or similar environment with hydraulic, engine and powertrain experience required.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Depending on the assigned field truck GVW, a DOT Med Card or Class A CDL is required.
  • Appropriate technician level tooling required.
  • Ability to obtain all MSHA certifications as required by customer site.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).
